Be it known that I MARIoFERNANDnz ARIAS, a. subject of the liing of Spain, and a resident of Newark, in the count of Essex and State of New Jersey, Uni States of America, have invented a new and Improved Cushion Seat, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention has relation to seats for chairs, stools or the like and primaril aims to rovide a seat which will ive the esired cus ioning effect without bul ess.

AAs a. still furt er object the invention contemplates' a cushion seat of the character set forth which is extremely simple .in its construction, inex ensive to manufacture, and which is hig y efficient in its purpose.

Referring to the drawings by characters of reference, the cushion seat comris a piece of materialv 10 which em ies the characteristics of sponge rubber and which 1s formed on its un er face with a pluralit of endless ribs 11 preferably integral wit the body 10 and paralleling the marginal edge ofthe same to define between said ribs a .plurality of endless recesses 12, which, when the seat is arranged on the chair bottom, define closed air pockets for enhancing the cushion effect of the material from which it is constructed, and which further function to prevent casual dis lacement of the Seat from the chair while a lowing for a suicient pla or movement of the same to rub ing or friction between the clot -in of the user which would tend to produce a s ine on the garment. Preferably the upper face of the body 10 is lined with a. fabric 13.

n In the modified adaptation of the inven tion illustrated in Figs. 45 and 6 the body 10a is of substantially circular formation and 1s formed with a plurality of concentric endless ribs 11 on its under face which define a plurality ofconcentric recesses 12a which further define air pockets on the stool S when the cushion seat is applied thereto.
