G. H. PARSONS DOLL 7 Filed Aug- 9, 1922 m g'L/vm/e Y B y\/ Gray. 1/ 60/50/16 A TTOK a tar GEORGE E. PARSONS, OF NEW YQEK, N. '1'.
MILL.
Application filed August 8, 1922. Serial. No 580,411.
To (/ZZ whom it may camera:
Be it known that Grown: H. PARSONS, a citizen of the United States. and a resident of New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York. has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dolls, 01'' which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to dolls, and the object of my invention is to provide a doll with magnets located in the limbs thereof, and especially, in the hands thereof. in such a manner that pieces of ferrous metals may be attracted by the magnets and held thereby in the hands of the doll.
Referring to the drawings, which form a part of this specification:
Figure 1' is an illustrational View of a doll having a magnet embedded in the palm 99 of each hand.
Figure 2 is a cross-sectional View taken on line 2+2 of, Figure 1.
A indicates the body of a doll; l3-B, respectively, the hands thereof.
In the present case, the doll is shown with limbs formed of plastic n'iaterial and a small pernianei'itly magnetized piece of iron C is embedded in the. hands of the doll, preferably in the palms thereof, the plasticbeing 80 molded around the edges of the metal C and overlapping the same, as indicated at C in Figure in one plane. and exposed in a plane with the plastic at a plane taken at a right angle thereto, so that a nail or other strip of metal will lay in direct contact with the exposed surface I) of the magnet.
It desired. the exposed surface D may be varnished or covered over with a light film of material of the same color as that of the 40 plastic from which the limbs are made, so
that the magnet will not be distinguished from the material in which it is embedded but in any case. it is desirable that the surface of the magnet shall be arranged in such a manner as to contact as directly as possible with the metals to be attracted and held thereby.
It is obvious that the whole hand i'night be formed of magnetized material by inaliing the magnet in such form.
The magnets {7 may be made in any desired form and held in any other manner found most convenient in the process of inz'innt'acturing the dolls.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new:
1. A doll of the character described hav' ing' hands, and magnets secured in the palm portions of hands, said magnets being positioned to attract and hold magnetic material to the said palm portions. 7
2. A doll of the character described having hands formed or plastic material and a magnet embedded within the palm portion of each hand and adapted to attract and hold magneticn'ia-terials against the said palm portions.
3. A doll of the character described having hands, and a magnet firmly secured beneath the surface of the palm portion of each hand, the surface of said magnet adjacent the palm portion being, covered to hide the magnet from view. said magnets being positioned to attract and hold magnetic materials to said pa-hn portions.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 6th day of July, A. I). 1922.
GEORGE H. PARSONS.
