IMPROVEMENT IN NOZZLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 154,971, dated September 15, 1874; application filed July 3o, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES GILBERT WHEELER, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented -certain Improvements in Water-Distributin g Apparatus, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists `4in the arrangement of awater-distributin g apparatus in such a manner as to enable the operator at will to obtain a spray, (or to sprinkle,) to obtain a jet of one or more than one diameter,

I am Well aware that a stop-cock similar to that described in the device has been heretofore employed, and I do not claim said stopcock as my invention, but simply the combination of .a jet and sprinkler and iiange, plate, or disk, in connection with a second flange, plate, or disk connected directly and forming part of a hand-pipe. l
My invention is for the purpose of producing at will a jet or spray for Watering gardens, lawns, &c., and not for the purpose of producing various-sized jets or solid streams, as in similar devices heretofore invented. A rose or sprinkler is, therefore, an essential part of my device, and is believed to form, with the other parts, a combination never before used or invented, and, for the purpose in View, a very useful one.
I claim as my invention- A hand-pipe, A, terminating at the end for discharge in a plate, iiange, or disk, B, in combination with another similar plate, ilange, or disk, C, bearing a jet and sprinkler, substantially as shown and described.
