WILLIAM L. SCHWAB, F FINDLAY, AND CHARLES B. VOGHT, OF TOLEDO, OHIO.
MILK-BOTTLE HOLDER.
Application filed December 7, 1923. Serial No. 679,160.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM L. SOHWAB and CHARLES B. VoeH'r, citizens of the United States, and residents of Findlay, in
the county of Hancock and State of Ohio, and Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, respectively, have invented a new and useful Milk-Bottle Holder, which invention is fully set forth in the following specification.
Our invention has for its object to provide an adjustable bottle support that will securely hold bottles of different sizes in a desired position and prevent them from being tipped over. The invention is particularly of value when used for supporting milk bottles. Pint, half pint or quart bottles may be placed in the support. It provides an attractive device that may be located well above the reach of dogs and cats, and one that will hold the bottle from being tipped over by the wind.
The invention may be contained in bottleholding devices of different forms. To illustrate a practical application of the invention we have selected the bottle holder contained in the invention and shall describe it hereinafter. The bottle holder is illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Fig. 1 of the drawings is a front view of the bottle holder. Fig. 2-is a vertical sectional view, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 33 indicated in Fig. 1.
A supporting board 1 is provided with a sheet metal panel member 2, having a raised portion 3. A bar 4 extends through an opening formed in the lower end of the panel 2 and up back of the panel. The bar is secured in position for vertical sliding move- Inents by'a strap 5 that is secured on the back of the panel 3. A tension spring 6 is connected to the upper end of the bar 4 and to a pin, or rivet, 7 that is secured in the upper end of the panel 2. The board 1 may be provided with a channel 8 for receiving the spring 6.
The lower end portion of the bar 4 extends at right angles to the body portion of the bar, and a flanged plate 10 is secured to the end of the bar 4 by means of a suitable strap 11. A yoke 12 that may be formed of an elastic metal strip is secured to the panel at a point above the flanged plate 10 by means of the screw bolts 18 that may also be used for securing the strap 5 in position. A milk bottle 14 may be inserted on the plate 10 and the plate 10 pushed down against the tension of the spring 6 until the neck of the bottle may be readily inserted in the yoke 12. The spring 6 will draw the plate 10 upwards and lift and hold the shoulder, or the enlarged portion of the milk bottle 14, against the lower edge of the yoke 12.
I claim:
In a bottle holder, a panel, a metal yoke secured to the panel, a flanged plate, a bar having a portion extending at right angles to the body portion of the bar and for supporting the plate beneath the yoke, the said bar slidably supported in the panel, a spring connected to the upper end of the bar and to the panel for elastically raising the plate towards the yoke and pressing the shoulder portion of the bottle against the lower edge of the yoke.
In testimony whereof we have hereunto signed our names to this specification.
