Y Appleman aieaaegustie, 192s. se1
.Be it known thatl, Lao A. l\lasoL-rarr-.NN, a citizen ot the United States, residing, in the city ol St. Louis and State` of Missouri, have invented i A.certain n ewf` and useful lm rovementsin F oldino` Landing Nets Voll which the following vis la speciication.V
This invention relatesl tojfoldahle or col,- lapsible fishing nets, and 1s a distinct and practical improvementV to overcome certain practical ohjectionwto, and detectsin, the,
present universal types of landing nets.
The object of my present invention is to;
constructja net to hefolded in one unit without dissemhlingly its component p arts, and,` vto vreduce the4 volume ofthe net'when collapsed to a mininmm space to hc carried with ease, or conveniently stored `away in hand longs or the like. j
A 'further object of my stantial connection..V
Another object of this invention is to prom vide a. device ot the character indicated having novel means tor adjustable sections trom a central, or single point to shift the parts to their predetermined point.
lNith the above and other objects in View, the invention consists in the novel features ot construction, arrangement and combination ol parts hereinafter more. fully descrihcd and linally pointed out .in the claim hereto appended.
Referring to the accompanying drawings forming a part tot this specification, wherein like characters 'ot reference denote similar parts throngliout the several views:
Fig. 1, is a plan view ot the trame section embodying my invention.
Fig. 2, is a plan view ot the hinged section ot a rectilinear area.
Fig. 3, is a plan view of the hinged section in the wedge collar.
Fig. l, is a plan view ot the. angular hinged section engaging the straight. cross arms.
Fig. 5, is a plan view of a hinged teminal connection for the rectangular bar-arms- Fig. 6, is a side view ot the wedge collar and handle showing` parts partly broken away.
Fig. 7, is a plan View of the net supporting frame-member in collapsed position.
Fig. 8, is a plan View ot the frame memj inventioiris provide a simple and sufficient strnctnralp formation and combination` otpartsin a combined unit adapted :foralready and suhn j.

Thedevice is composed of a series ofspaced ftrame members arranged Vat `equal distances to` swing `alcout a fixed `center in different angular adjustment for clamping purposes. `acting rods 4 `and 5 are` hinged at their outer terminals()l to the hitorlred 4sleeves l' by` yments off thepins 8. The rods l and 5 also `The longitudinal cohave a central hinged connection wherein the rod 4 is composed ot a hearing sleeve 9 with flat extensions to'` o verlie each other,

Referring-to. the drawing, the distended v ,structure ofmydevice is clearly shown iny said estensione comprising hiturcated` terp yminal'sffto, engage-the flattened end portion The shoulder 11 on rode j formed by flattening the terminal portion ot the rod 5 will limit the movement ol:l the hearing sleeve 9 from its rectilinear position. Mounted within the internal screw threaded portion ot thehearing sleeves 'l'k are the adjacent rods 12 pivotally engaging the sleeves 13. Formed upon each sleeve 13 is a lip 14 to act as a stop to check the rods 12 against linear displacement. A rod 15 engages the internally screw threaded heel ends ot' one of the hearing sleeves 13 and has its oppositely disposed terminal fastened to a hearing sleeve 17, said sleeve 17 pivotally engaging a rod 16, as shown in Fig. 3. The sleeve 17 is formed at its junction with rods 15 and 16, with a bore 13 to detachahly re ceve a thumb nut equipped holt 2O passing through a wedge collar 19. Said wedge collar 19 is composed of a pair of jaws with their inner faces 2l and 22 in mutual contact with the hearing sleeve 17 and rod 16 and being provided with clogging devices 23 and 24, as shown in Figs. 6 and 10. Said clogging devices 23 and 24 are of a varied width so that when the component part of rod 1G, the sleeve 17, in its angular travel will reach the dog 23 fit-ting the enlargement of the sleeve l?, it will normally lock said sleeve memher l? with its component rods 15 and 16 thereby registering said rods in their longitudinal movement, and hy clamping thg jaws 2l and 22v of the Wedge, colla-r3.1 9 with y:them
thumb nut equipped boltV 20, the entire frame structure with its groups of aligned members Will be held in rigid-adjustment. A
Integral With the upper jaw 21'4 Iofmthe Wedge collar 19 is a circular frameportion.,
"1 net into a collapsible formation, the/clamping bolt 2O is loosened suicientlyto diseii` gage the jaws 21 and 22 from mutual con-f tact with the bearing sleeve 17-and rod 16, thereby allowing all 'component parts vto disengage theirhinged connection and :be moved` 'into a line of their length, as shown in F 7 An inward turn of thef upperjaw member 21, with its attached handle holder 25,*Wll cause said liandleinember 25 land handle 26 to overlievthe- 'collapsed vframe portions,y in linear alignment, as shown in Fig. 8, thus condensingI thel voluminous contents of the unit intoan advantageous form for carrying purposes. Y' Y l y y The many advantages of `themhereinIk de scribed invention will readily suggest themf selves tothoseskilled in the art-to'vvhich appertains. i
I `doiiot desire to be understood as limiting myself to the exact details of construction and arrangement as herein described and illiistrated, asitu manifest that variations and modifications may be made Withoutv departing from the spirit and scope of my invention and the tei-ins of the following claiin, hencev I Wish it to be understood that I reserve the right to makeany such changes, or modifications as may fairly -fall Within the scope of the appended claim when fairlyhconstriied.
What I 'claim is:
In a collapsible*fishingl net structure, a handle, a frame, said frameconsisting of a pair of innerend members hingedlyl connected at their adjacent ends to said handle,
a pair of outer end members hingedly con-V Qnected at their adjacent ends, a pair of side members hingedly `connected at their ends to Ysaid inner a'ndsaid outer end vmembers, stops formedon the: outer ends of the inner end frame members to hold the side members in parallel yrelation when the frame is in its open position, a net suspended from said frame members and means vfor'clainping the adjacent, hinged ends of Athe innerl frame `members yagainst displacement for holding .the frame in either rigid openV position yor rigid collapsed position.
Inftestiniony whereof, I have hereunto signed lmy name to the specification.
