EXERCISING TOY.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, ADoLrHUs W. MA- LONE and JOHN 1V. GERBAULET, citizens of the United States, residing at Fillmore, in the county of Millard and State of Utah, and Berkeley, in the county of Alameda and State of California, respectively, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Exercising Toys, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to toy exercising devices.

An important object of the invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character, embodying resilient members which are secured to the feet of the user, such as a child, whereby a bouncing action is obtainable, upon walking, jumping, or running.

A further object of the in ention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character which is highly amusing, in use, and will produce healthy exercise.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent in the course of the following description.

In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same.

In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodianent of the invention, each device, is shown as embodying a pneumatic casing 5, which is circular in horizontal cross-section, and preferably tapers downwardly slightly. This casing is of course air tight and is preferabl'y formed of rubber which is preferably reinforced with fabric to impart to the same the desired strength. The casing 5 is preferably provided at its lower end with a wear element ,or shoe 6, cemented, vulcanized, or otherwise suitably secured thereto. This shoe may be formed of rubber reinforced with fabric, plain rubber,

fabric,0r leather. The casing is provided with a valve 7, preferably located upon the inner side thereof, near its upper end whereby it may be inflated. Attention is called to the fact that the pnuematic casing 5 has a greater vertical length than width or diameter, and by virtue of this greater vertical length, and also by virtue of the taper, the pneumatic casing is adapted to turn or roll upon the shoe 6 whereby the device has instability, thus rendering its use more difi the cap may be equipped with a ring 11, ad-

justably clamped thereon above the flange 10. Straps 12, formed of fabric or the like, may! be looped about the ring 11 or otherwise attached thereto, and have their lower ends cemented or otherwise attached to the shoe 6. The invention is not necessarily restricted to the employment of the straps l2 and associated elements, as the same may be omitted, if desired.

Mounted upon the top of the cap 8 is a foot rest 13, which may be formed of metal, such as aluminum and which may be riveted or otherwise rigidly attached to the cap 8. The foot rest is equipped with forward and rear straps 14 and 15, to engage about the foot of the wearer, to securely retain the foot rest to the foot.

In the use of the device, two of the same are secured to the feet of a child or the like, as clearly shown in Figure 1, and it-is obvious that a bouncing effect is obtained when the child walks, runs, or jumps, which will be very amusing to the child, and will afiord excellent exercise.

It is to beunderstood that the form of our invention herewith shown and described, is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts, may be re- (ill sorted to, without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.

Having thus described our invention, we claim:

1. An exercising toy of the character described, comprising a foot rest to be secured to the foot of the wearer, and a single pneumatic casing arranged beneath and secured to the foot rest near the center of the same with the foot rest extending forwardly and rearw'ardly beyond the pneumatic casing, said pneumatic casing having a substantial vertical length so that it will produce a pronounced rebounding action.

2. An exercising toy of the character'described, comprising a foot rest, means to secure the foot rest to the foot of the wearer, a single pneumatic casing secured to the foot rest and having a greater vertical length than width so that it will produce a pronounced rebounding action, said pneumatic casing being so constructed that it is adapted to turn in all directions upon its lower end.

3. An exercising toy of the character described, comprising a foot rest, a cap arranged beneath the foot rest and provided with a depending flange, and a pneumatic casing having its upper end held within the cap. y

4. An exercising toy of the character described, comprising a foot rest, a cap ar ranged beneath the foot rest and secured thereto and having a depending flange, a pneumatic casing having its upper ends arranged within the cap, means for retaining such upper end within the cap, and a shoe carried by the lower end of the casing.

5. An exercising toy of the character de scribed, comprising a foot rest, means for. securing the foot rest to the foot of the wearer, a pneumatic casing arranged beneath the foot rest and attached thereto and having a greater vertical length than-width so that it willproduce a pronounced rebounding act-ion and relative instability, and means whereby the pneumatic casing may be inflated, to vary the rebounding action of the same.

6. An exercising toy of the character de-' scribed, comprising a foot rest, means for securing the foot rest to the foot of the wearer, a pneumatic casing arranged beneath the foot rest and secured thereto and having a substantial Vertical length for producing pronounced rebounding action, said pneumatic casing being substantially circular in cross section and decreasing in diameter downwardly, and means whereby the casing may be inflated to vary the pressure therein.
