RECEPTACLE FOR OIL PAINT AND THE LIKE.
Application filed June 18, 1923. Serial No. 646,200.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l. Janos SAX, a citizen of the Swiss Republic, residing at Urdorf, near Zurich, Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Receptacles for Oil Paint and the like. of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a receptacle for transporting and dispensing oil paints and the like and particularly to that form of receptacle which contains a piston and a screw-threaded spindle whereby this piston is displaced for extruding the contents of the vessel.
The object of the invention is to provide the receptacle with a piston which is better suited to prevailing conditions than the pistons ordinarily used for the purpose and which can easily be readjusted so as to maintain the walls perfectly clean. and this object is achieved according, to the invention by the provision of two metal plates which are adjustable by means of a nut for clampingbetween them two cork discs and a felt disc which is interposed between the cork discs.
Fig.1 of theaccompanying drawings rep-' resents a vertical section taken on the line A--A of Fig. .2, which is a plan of the apparatus.
A cylindrical vessel 1 is titted at the bottom with a discharge nozzle 14 which is normally closed by means of a screw-cap 15, a rubber or like washer 16 being interposed between the elements to form a tight closure. The lid 2 of the vessel is secured to the lat ter by means of screws '3 which are fitted in lugs on the lid and in brackets 4 connected to'the vessel wall. piston composed of two metal plates 9 and 1 0 between which two cork discs 11 and an The vessel contains :1
intermediate felt disc 12 are clamped. the disc 9 being secured to a central sleeve 8 on which the other elements are threaded. The nut 13 which screws onto the sleeve 8 clamps the piston elements together and expands the discs against the wall of the vessel so as to form a tight fit. The sleeve 8 has an internal screw-thread for the reception of. a screw spindle 5. This spindle passes through an aperture in the lid 2 and bears, against the latter by means of a shoulder 6 so that it can be used for displacing the piston and forcing the contents of the vessel through the delivery nozzle 14 after removal of the screw-cap 15. For this purpose the spindle is turned in the 'directionof the arrow 17 by means of a handle 8' which is fitted on the squared spindle end 7 and fixed in position by means of a pin 9.
For filling the vessel the lid 2 and the piston are removed. After the reintroduc tion of the piston, the vessel is hermetically closed, and the paint will be protected from the drying influence of the atmosphere. Ac cess to the paint of dust and other impurities,'moreover, is prevented. As the piston wipes the walls quite clean and descends right to the bottom of the vessel. the contents of the latter will be completely utilized.
