adapted to engage the rings 5 which are carried by the head 6 of the filling carrier or bobbin, the construction being such that the filling carrier or bobbin in the shuttle may be forced from the shuttle by an incoming filling carrier or bobbin, the ej ected illing carrier or bobbin at such times passing, in the present instance, downwardly thru an opening 7, as indicated in Fig. 2.
During weaving the filling or yarn in the shuttle is withdrawn therefrom as the Shuttle is picked alternately from one side of the loom to the other, and, as indicated in Fig. 5, the shuttle is provided with an automatically threading block designated generally as 8. The threading,` block 8 may be of any desired construction, and the yarn drawn from the filling carrier or bobbin passes from the thread passage in the threading block outwardly thru the side delivery eye 9 as usual.
In order that the filling or yarn in the shuttle shall not balloon, or overthrow, or become 'snarled or kinked during the Weaving operation, it is desirable that a too free delivery of the filling from the filling carrier or bobbin may be prevented, especially when the shuttle comes to rest in the Shuttle box after its fiight across the lay. To this end the present invention contemplates a tension member which extends longitudinally of the Shuttle and in a'diagonal direction relative to the bobbin chamber to engage the body of the filling or yarn upon the filling carrier or bobbin and control its delivery therefrom. Such diagonal arrangement of 'the tension member would ordinarily interfere with the ejection of the filling carrier or bobbin in a filling replenishing Shuttle, but, in accordance with the present invention, the tension member is connected to the shuttle in such manner that it may yield to permit the pa"- sage of the ejected filling carrier or bobbin and return to its initial position to bear upon the mass of illing,` or yarn of the fresh filling` carrier or bobbin.
The tension member 10 is formed of flexible material such as a spring, elastic webbing, cord, or like filaments so that as the filling is progressively withdrawn from the filling,` carrier or bobbin it will conform to the -contour of the remaining filling. The tension member 10 is secured to the Shuttle adj acent one end of the bobbin Chamber and extends in a longitudinal and diagonal direction with reference to the bobbin chamber cros'sing the longitudinal axis thereof, and is 'supported at its other end by a yielding arm which extends from one side of the bobbin chamber 'transversely thereof with capacity for yielding movement to permit passage of the ejected carrier or bobbin, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2.
In the present instance of the invention the tension member 10 is shown in Fig. at as connected to an adjusting screw 11 which may be conveniently passed thru the wall 12 of the Shuttle and be threaded into a sleeve 13. The adjusting,` screw 11 is shown as provided with an eye or hook 14;, to which one end of the tension member 10 may be secured. This means for securing one end of the tension member to the shut'tle has been found a good, practical form of 'such means, but it is to be understood that the invention is not. limited thereto, but that the end of the tension member may be secured to the shuttle by any appropriate or desired sew curing means.
Mounted upon the shuttle is a. bearing or block 15, and in the present instance 'such block is preferably secured to the wall 12 of the .Shuttle in a rece'ss 16 formed therein at the lower portion thereof or adjacent the opening 7. The block 15 has a portion 17, (Fig. 8) extending longitudinally of the shuttle to form a support 01' bearing for an arm 18. The arm 18 has av longitudinally extending portion 19 adapted to rock in the bearing portions 20 and 21 of the block and between the bear-mg portions 20 and 21 (F ig. 3) is a spring 22 One end of which is secured 'to the block as at 23 and the other end of which is secured to the arm 18 as at 24, the tendency of said spring being in an upward direction viewing Fig. 2, to maintain the arm 18 extending transversely of the bobbin chamber. It may be desirable in some instances to provide a stop for limiting the upward movement of the arm 18 under the impulse of the spring 22, and such stop may be variously formed. As indicated in Fig. 3 it may consist of the end portion 25 connected to the arm which may abut against a pin or projection 26 extending from the block 15. Such stop, however, may not always be necessary.
The free end portion 27 of the arm 18 which extends transversely of the bobbin chamber is preferably located at the 'side of the bobbin chamber oppo'site to the securing means 11, as indicated in Figs. 1 and 2, and to such free end portion 27 of the arm 18 the other end of the tension member 10 is secured, 'the result being that the tension .member extends in a diagonal direction across the bobbin Chamber to bear upon the body of the yarn on the filling carrier or bobbin. Thus, in the construction shown, both ends of the tension member 10 are support'ed from the same side wall of the bobbin Chamber, and, while this con'stitutes a. preferred form of the invention, in order to secure 'the maximum amount of yarn control as it is withdrawn from the bobbin or filling carrier in the sliuttle, the fixed end of the tension member may be secured at other points than 'that described so long as the tension member shallextend longitudinally and diagonally of the bobbin chamber to bear upon .the mass .of yarn fon the =filling carrier `01' bobbin .and control its .delivery therefrom.

Instead of making the arm 18 as hereinbefore described with reference to Figs. l and :2, such yielding arms may be formed as indicated at Fig. 6, that is it may be made of spring metal and attached to one of the walls of the bobbin Chamber. Claims:
1. A loom Shuttle provided with a tensionmember, extending diagonally across the bobbin Chamber to 'bear upon the yarn therein and ayieldable supportin` arm for the tension member extending` across the bobbin chamber to be displaced by' a bobbin as it is ejected from the shuttle.
2.' A loom'shuttle provided with a tension member having` a fiexible body portion extending diagonally across the bobbin Chamber to bear upon the yarn package and a yieldable supporting arm for the tension member extending` across the bobbin chamber to be displaced by a bobbin as it is ejected from the Shuttle.
3. A loom Shuttle provided with a tension member extending longitudinally of the bobbin Chamber and a yieldable supporting arm for the tension member extending across the bobbin ChamberI and holding the tension member in diagonal relation thereto to be displaeed by a. bobbin as it is ejeoted from the shuttle. r
4. A loom shuttle provided with a tension member Crossing the longitudinal axis of the bobbin Chamber' to beal` upon the yarn package, means for secnring one end of the tension member to the shuttle at one side of the bobbin Chamber, and yielding means se- Cured to the same side of and Crossing the bobbin Chamber and supporting` the fiexible member the opposite side of the bobbin Chamber for displacement by a bobbin as it is ejeeted from the shuttle.
A loom shuttle provided with a flexible tension member extending across the longitudinal axis of the bobbin Chamber and having one end seoured to the shuttle adjaoent one end of the bobbin Chamber, and a yielding arm extending; across the bobbin Chamber below the bobbin for supporting the tension member diagonally of the bobbin to yield to the passage of a bobbin as it is ejeoted from the shuttle.
6. A loom shuttle having` a tension member to bear upon the yarn package, one end of the tension member being secnred at ono end of the bobbin Chamber, and a yielding arm extending across the bobbin Chamber for supporting the other end of the tension member.

A filling replemshing loom shuttle havi ing;` an opening for the discharge of a filling` Carrier .or bobbin, a fiexible tension member diagonally arranged in the bobbin Chamber to bear upon the yarn on the Carrier or bobbin, and a support for one endrof the fleXible member Constituted as a yielding arm extending transversely of the bobbin Chamber Constructed and arranged to yield for the passage of an ejeeted filling` carrier or bobbin.
9. A filling replenishing loomshuttle having a yielding arm mounted at one side of the bobbin Chamber and extending transversely thereof, and a fiexible tension member disposed diagonally of the shuttle and having one end seoured to the yielding arm at one side of the bobbin Chamber and its other end seCured to the shuttle adj aCent the other end of the bobbin Chamber. i
10. A filling replenishing loom shuttle having a diagonally extending tension member to bear upon the yarn mass in the shuttle, and yielding,` means extending across the bobbin Chamber for supporting one end of the diagonally extending tension member that the latter may be Carred out of the path of the bobbin as it is ejeCted from the shuttle.

13. A filling replenishing shuttle having a bottom opening' for the passage of a bobbin or filling Carrier, a yielding arm extending vtransversely of the bobbin Chamber below the bobbin or filling Carrier, and a fiexible tension member having` one end secured to the yielding arm and its other end Conneoted to' the shuttle to Cause the intermediate portion of the tension member to bear upon the mass of yarn in the shuttle and y'ield with the arm to the passage of a filling` Carrier or bobbin.
