SHOOTING GALLERY.-
Application filed August 27, 1923. seriaruo. 59,586;
To all whom may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK DOnoraro, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wilmington, in the county of New Castle and State of Delaware, haveinvented new and useful Improvements inShooting Galleries, of which the following isa specification.
This invention relates to a toy made in the general object of the invention being to provide manually operated means for operating a series of targets and at the same time operating a gun, the bullets from which will strike the targets asthey reach a certain point.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for resetting the targets and for catching the bullets from the gun.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims. 7
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which 7 Figure 1 is a side view of the invention.
Figure 2 is a section on line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a partial plan view.
Figure 4c is a sectional detail view through part of the gun.
In these views, 1 indicates a base which is of hollow construction and in which is journaled a shaft 2, the front end of which is provided with a crank handle 3 by which the shaft may be turned. A figure 1, made to represent a man holding a gun 5, is mounted on the base and this" gun is formed with a magazine 6 to hold bullets and it is provided with a spring actuated projector 7 for ejecting the bullets from the gun. This projector is actuated by the pivoted lever 8 which has its lower end passing into the base where it is engaged by the cams 9 on the disc 10'which is fastened to the shaft 2. The lever is pivoted at 11 to a part of the figure and the parts are so arranged that the shaft is turned the cams will rock the lever so as to retract the projectorand then when the lever is released by the cam the spring willcause the projector to spring forwardly and eject a bullet from the gun.
A pulley-or sprocket 12' is fastened to the shaft and a second pulley 13 is fastened to astub'shaft 1a which is carried by the 1101- lo'w uprightrlewhich'is fastened to the base. Anendless chain or belt 16 passes over the members 12 and 13 and this-belt or chain carries the cars 17 to. which the stems .18 are pivoted, each .stem carrying a target 19 which is preferably made in the form of a bird. These parts are so arranged that as a target reaches the upper part of the member 13 it will be in the path of a bullet ejected from the gun so that it will be struck by said bullet and the force of the blow will. cause the bird and stem to drop rearwardly, due to the pivoted connection of the stem with the belt or chain. As the parts move downwardly the stem will come in contact with the cam 20 which will re turn the stem and bird to the normal position so that the bird will be in position to be again shot at when it reaches the, top part of its path. A net 21 is carried by the upright-s 22 at the rear of the device for catching the bullets and a drawer 23 is arranged at the bottom of the net for receiving the bullets caught by the same so that the bullets can be returned to the gun.
From the foregoing it will be seen that by rotating the handle 3 the shaft 2 will ing member and the ejector parts are so timed that a target will reach the top part of its path just after the gun has been actuated so that the bullet will strike the target. The target will then be raised .by the cam 20 and then the bullet will be caught by the net and will drop into the drawer.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is V j 1. A device of the class described comprising a hollow base, a figure representing a man with a gun, supported on the base adjacent one end thereof, a projector in the gun, a vertically arranged lever pivoted to a part on the figure with its upper end enof the gun. The
