Inthe structure of' the chest illustrated, edge strips 6 and 7 are used surrounding the panel'forming the top of the chest, the members 6 extending at the side and the vmembers 7 at the ends o'tvsaid panel. The shapeV of? the members 6. and 7 in cross section, respectively, is shown in Fig. 3 where it is seen that the member 6 extends under and isset or rabbeted into the undersur'face of some of the members 1 and it will, likewise, be set or rabbeted into the adjacent members 2 and 2a. The strips and 7, preferably are Aheld in shape by screws 8 extending into the adjacent members 1. Outer strips 9 and 10 extend around the strips 6 and 7 respectively, andthe strips@ and'9 are mitered at the corners with the strips 7 and 10.

What is claimed is:
l. A panel formed of adjacent rows of spaced groups of pieces, said panel comprising two sets of groups, said pieces being of rectangular cross section, each group of one set comprising a plurality ofA similar pieces arranged longitudinally of said panel and the other set .of groups each compris-V guiar cross section and a plurality of groups of shorter piecesrof rectangular cross sec tion disposed between theends of said first mentioned groups and having 'che 'pieces .thereof disposed at'an angle to the pieces in said first mentioned groups, spaced securing means extending transversely or' said first mentioned groups and through the pieces thereofintermediate their ends, and fastening means extending from the ends of and longitudinally of the pieces of said first mentioned groups into the pieces of the second mentioned groups. s

A panel formed of adjacent longitudi nal rows, each comprising a series of groups longitudinally extending contacting pieces of rectangular cross section, said groups being spaced at their ends,` and groups of transversely extending `members of rectangular cross section interposed be* tween said ends, said members extending at right angles to said pieces, said groups in the adjacent rows being arranged in stag-y gered relation, Vsaid members and pieces hav-V ing their exposed surfaces in one plane, clamping means extending transversely throughvthe pieces in said first mentioned groups and between said second mentioned groups, and holding means extending from lll() the ends of said pieces into andtransversely Y of said members.
