Description

- L. DE LUCIA RUBBER HEEL Filed Jan. 20, 1923 INVENTOR WITNESS: ATTORNEY Patented May 26, 1925.
T OFFICE:
LEONARD DE LUC IA, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
RUBBER HEEL.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEONARD DE LUCIA, a subject of the Kin of Italy, residing at Washington, in the Tistrict of Columbia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Rubber Heels, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention has reference to an improved construction of rubber heels.
In carrying out my invention it is my purpose to roduce a rubber heel having an outer roun ed face provided, adjacent its perimeter with an enlargement and which as its innerface concaved and provided with a plurality of projections which gradually decrease in size from the outer thickened face of the heel, said heel having embedded therein metallic plates arranged transversely of openings formed through the heel and projections, said metallic plates adapted to reinforce the heel construction as well as to rovide stops for the attaching nails for the heel, while the projections revent slipping by the wearer of the hee as well as longevity of life for the heel, it being necessary to wear the respective projections off before reaching the heel proper, therefore the slip reventing feature will remain with theheei for a considerable length of time;
To the attainment of the foregoing, and other objects which will present themselves as the nature of the invention is better understood, referenceis to be had to the drawings; which accompanies and which forms art of this application In t e drawings:-
Figure 1 is an outer face new of a rubber heel in accordance with this invention.
Figure 2 is an inner face view thereof.
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the/line 3-3 of Figure 1.
In the drawings, I have illustrated one form of my provement, it being molded in the usual manner.
Application filed January 20, 1923. Serial No. 614,005.
In the" construction disclosed the heel is indicated by the numeral 1, the same having its outer ends slightly rounded both longitudinally and transversely, while its inner face is concaved, The outer face is indicated by the numeral 2 and is formed, at a suitable distance inwardof its edges with a thickened tread portion 3. The tread surface 3, at preferably equi-distant points, is provided, with outwardly projecting lu s 8 and reduced bosses 9 arranged central y on the outer face of each lug. The lugs and bosses provide calks to prevent slipping of the wearer of the heel. In aline centrally with each boss and lug the heel has an 0 ening 10 thereto, and this opening is bri ged by'a disc 11- arranged in the heel adjacent the inner surface t ereof when the same is molded. Each metal disc 11 has a central opening therethrough for the reception of the securing nails.
It is thought that the foregoing description when taken in connection with the drawings will ampl set forth my heel construction and the a vanta es thereof.
Having thus descri ed my invention what I desire to claim as new is A rubber heel of the character" described comprising a body having its outer face slightly ,rounded both longitudinally and transversely while the inner face thereof is concaved, a thickened tread portion formed on the outer face of the body, a plurality of fqui-distantly spaced outwardly projecting trally from the outer face of each lug and together with the projections provide a nonslipping surface, said lugs and bossesbeing provided with a central] disposed 0 'ening which extendsthrough t e tread an body,
arranged adjacent the perimeter of the thlckened tread, reduced bosses rising cen-
