Description

May 19, 1925. 1,538,233
B. F. BASTIAN TAG HOLDER Filed Nov. 22, 1922 Patented May 19, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
TAG HOLDER.
Application filed November 22, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. Bes- TIAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sunbury, in the county of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tag Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in shipping tag holders and has for its object the securing of the consignors and the consignees names in the same, the former being kept permanently in the holder while the latter may be sub ect to change. All trouble over lost and destroyed tags is eliminated. The holder is made of two pieces of metal stamped as shown.
The various features of the invention will be more fully described in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which,
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the holder.
Figure 2 is a plan of bottom plate, top plate removed.
Figure 3 is a side view of the holder.
Figure 4 is a sectional view on line 4-4 Figure 1, tags shown in heavy black line bctween plates.
Referring to the drawing, 1 indicates the rear plate of the holder stamped from a piece of metal having the raised parts 2', S which form partitions and retainers for tags or cards. One end of said plate has two parts out out as shown at 4 to enable the user to grasp the ends of the tags to lift them up to remove the same. The remaining parts of the end of the rear plate 1 are rolled or curved as shown at 5 to enable the ends of Serial No. 602,620.
the cards or tags to be slipped under the same and be held in place, and prevent any accidental dislodgment.
The front plate 6 has two openings '7 and 8 cut in the same to expose to view the tags or cards 9 and 10 upon which the consignor and the consignees names may be written or printed. 11 shows one end of the front plate 6 turned upward to enable the ends of the cards or tags to be slightly elevated so that they may be removed from between the plates over the rolled or curved parts 5 of the rear plate 1.
At the four corners of the holder are apertures 12'passing through both plates adapted to receive rivets or other fastenings which secure the holders in position on the package upon which they are used. 13; indicates openings at one side of the front plate directly opposite openings in the rear plate to enable the user to grasp the cards or tags to remove them from between the two plates.
hat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A ta holder comprising a rear and front plate 2 c apted to have tags inserted between them, said. plates being held in spaced rela tion by means of longitudinal and perpendicular ribbed parts on the rear plate which form partitions and retainers for the tags, parts of the edge of the rear plate opposite the perpendicular retainer curved or rolled to form a locking device for the tags, and
openings in the front tags.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
BENJAMIN'F. BASTIAN.
