P. J. GARRETT ADJUSTABLE WINDOW SHADE BRACKET A Filed June 4, 1923 Waff?? :ses
Patented May 12, 1925@ UNITED STATES PETER J. GARRETT, F IVIORGANTOWN, WEST VIRGINIA.
v ADJUSTABLE WINDOW-SHADE BRACKET.
Application filed .Tune 4,
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, Pnfrnn J. GARRETT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Morgantown, in the county of Monongalia and State of Test Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable lVindow-Shade Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to adjustable window shade holders, and its object is to provide means whereby the window shade or shades may be supported in brackets made fast to the window casing in such manner that the shade holder may be sustained either singly or in pairs as the case may be.
In accordance with the invention, there is provided a basic member with a plate sustained thereby so that either one or more rollers may be supported to sustain one or more shades, either singly or in tandem.
rIhe invention will be best understood from a consideration of the followingdetailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, with the understanding that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawings, but may be changed and modified so long as such changes and modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claim.
In the drawing:
Figure l-is a plan view of an adjustable window shade bracket embodying the invention.
Figure Z-is a side elevation thereof.
Figure S-is a plan View of the window shade bracket, as viewed from the opposite side to that shown in Figure l.
Figure l-is a section on the line 4 6: of Fig. l.
Figure is a plan View of a double shade bracket.
Referring to the drawing, there is shown a plate l, which may be a metal plate of elongated shape, provided at opposite ends with counter-bored screw holes 2, by means 1923. Serial No. 643,214.
of which the plate may be made -fast to a window casing or other support.
Extending lengthwise through the plate 1 is a screw arbor 3 journaled near the ends in upright posts 4L being freely rotatable in said posts.
The arbor 3 is provided near one end with a. milled wheel 5, by means of which rotating' movement is imparted to the arbor, and such arbor has screw threaded engagement in a block 6 through the greater portion of the length of the arbor. The block G is formed with a basic portion 7 engaging the plate l. The basic portion 7 of the block 6 carries another plate 8 in right angular relation to the block 6, so that the block 6 and the plate 8 are held against turning, and the pla-te 8 projects through a longitudinal slot 9 in the plate l, so that the block 6 and plate 8 are caused to move lengthwise of the slot 9, because of the basic portion 7 of the block 6 and the narrow width of the slot 9, the plate 8 is prevented from turning while being propelled along the plate l. The plate l is provided adjacent one end with an opening 13 through which a portion of the milled wheel 5 proA jects in order that this milled wheel may be operated from either side of the plate.
In the modification shown in Figure 5, there are two screw threaded arbors 8 and 3b in tandem and both arbors are individually rotatable about the longitudinal axis by means of milled wheels l0, while in the form shown in Figures l to 3, but a single arbor 3 is employed.
In Figure 1 and'associated figures, there is shown a plate having a single perforation l1 designed to receive the pin usually employed in the curtain fixtures of a shade, and in Figure 5, there are Shown other 90 shade fixtures l2 to hold the customary angle slot employed in shade fixtures, to prcvent rotation of the corresponding end of the shade roller.
Having thus described my invention, what plate having a slot disposed longitudinally thereof, osts mounted at one side of the plate and) disposed beyond the ends of the slots, the plate, being provided With an opening disposed in alignment with lthe slot, a threaded arbor journaled in the posts, a knurled Wheel mounted upon the arbor and having. a portion of its periphery pass ing through the Opening n the plate, a block sldably mounted in the slot cmd having a 10 In testimony whereof I ax my signature.
PIiTIXERpJ1v GAR-RETT.
