WILLIAM A. RI N GLER, OE. PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.-
LoQsE- EAFLEDGER ren vxsvetrznn aaaenennrsnr or ACCOUNT SHEETS.
Application filed April 28,1924" To all whom it may concern:
Be it known thatI, WILLIAM A. RINGLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county'of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented anew and useful Loose-Leaf Ledger with Visualized Arrangement of Account Sheets, of
which the following is a specification.
Oneofthe main. objectsof my present in vention is todevise a novel construction and.
arrangement of a loose lea-f ledger wherein account sheets are employed which are removably carried by sheetholders.
With the above and otherobjects in View whichwill hereinafter more clearly appear, my invention comprehendsa novel construction and arrangement of a loose It further comprehends a novel construc tion and arrangement of sheet holders'which are, provided, with the account sheets inproper alignment, and, if desired, withthe proper spacing between the sheets so that the title of. each'sheet will be visible; 1 V I v I I t .furthercomprehends a novel construc tion of account sheets.
Other. novel features of construction and advantage will hereinafter more clearly appear'in the detailed description and the ap pended claims. e v I For the purpose of illustrating the invention, I haveshown in the accompanying in practice, will give reliable and. satisfao tory results.
my invention consists can be variously are rangedand organized, and that the invention 1s not limlted to the prec1searrange- Figure 3. representsa section on line 3"3jof Fi re ,1;

Similar numerals, of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings:
1 designates a loose leaf ledger with account sheets and sheet holders embodying myinventi-on. 2 designates a binder which may be of any desired or conventional construction, and, as such binders are well known 'in the art, I will describe the one illustrated in the drawings with only suflicient clearness to enable one to clearly understand the operation;
The binder consists of the binding members 3.and 4 which are relatively contractible and expansible, the, binding member 3 being fixed to the post 5 and the binding member 4 being slidable thereon and provided with means to lock it in the position to" which ithas been adjusted. I
The binding member 3has hinged to it a leaf .6, and, in a similar manner, the binding member 4 has when assembledis in book form. S'designates leaf or sheet holders which are, formed of sheet material, such as carol board or press board, and havetheir inner ends deflected around the tiller members9 as at 10, see Figure 6, from'which it will be understood that, in the form" illustrated, the inner ends of the sheet holders are folded around rectangular strips and secured thereto in any desired manner, for ex- Each sheet holder has secured toit, in any desired manner, a strip of material 11, ex-
tending transversely across it and'provided' with' the weakened lines 12. and 13, thereby forming the folds'll 'and l5, respectively? Thi strip, 11 is preferably of relatively'stifi material such and the foldfla at-its opposite ends is apertured as indicated at 16. i
. l7 designates the account sheets which are usually made of paper and may be of any desired width. These sheets attheir'inner ends are provided with weakened lines 18 and 19 asfor example press board,
hinged to it the leaf? so.
respectively, thereby forming a retaining fla 20. Between the weakened lines near opposite edges, I preferably provide spacing tongues 21 which are directed towards each other, and, if desired, only one of the spacing tongues can be employed, as shown. in Figure 8. It a spacing tongue is employed near each edge of the sheet, the sheet can be readily reversed and the same spacing will be provided as it the original side of the sheet were being used. The account sheets are locked in position with respect to the sheet holder by means of lockin members which are preferably made of sheet metal, which is deflected to form arms 23,.which are secured to the sheet holders by means of: any desired type or fasteningdevice 2% which will permit movement of the locking member 22. As illustrated, this fastening device is shown as a rivet or paper fastener. Each locking member 22 is deflected to form an upper plate and a lowerplate 26, thereby forming a slot 27, so that when the locking member 22 is moved. inwardly into the position seen in Figure l, the account sheets will be in their locked position, as will be hereinafter more clearly explained.
One of. the plates 25 or 26 has the material inwardly bulged as at 28 to form a locking portion which is adapted to extend into the juxtaposed aperture 16 and thus prevent the accidental unlocking; ot'. a looking member 22.
The manner. in which the parts are assen'ibled will be readily understood by reference toldigures 2 to G inclusive. The spacing; tongues 2l form spacing members so that when the account sheets are assembled a portion of the card near one marginal edge will be visible as indicated at 29 in Figure 4-. The trap 20 of each card is bent over. and inserted beneath the told it. and the told or flap 15 is then turned to lie beneath the told 20. as will be understood b reference to l! igure 2. The locking members are now moved into their locliina' posi tion, and the account sheets will be firmly secured in their properly aligned position with respect to their sheet holders.
The inner portion of each sheet holder with the filler member 9 serves as a spacing; device so that when the ledger is closed the leaves 6 and 7 will be disposed substantially parallel to each other. 7
It will of course be understood that the spacinq nembers 21 can be dispensed with. if desired. and. the operator can space the account sheets as may be desired so thatthe titles willbe rendered visible. or they may be secured in such relative positions that only the title of the uppermost sheet will be visible.
It will be understood from Figure 6 that the filler member 9 and the portion of the sheet which surrounds them are apertured as at 30 in order to permit the posts to pass therethrough.
It will now be apparent that Ihave devised a new and useful loose ledger with. visualized arrangement ol account sheets which embodies the features of advz'intaa'e enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description, and while i have. in the present instance. shown and described a preferred embodiment thereof which will give in practice satisfactory and reliable results, it is to be understood that this embodiment is lSCQDtliJlQ o'l modification in various particulars without departing" from the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantage.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A sheet holder comprising; a sheet of material having; on one side intermediate its ends a piece of material formed with a plurality of folds. and means to secure said folds in their folded position.
2. A sheet holder comprising; a sheet of material, a spacing member to which one end of said sheet is secured. a strip secured to said sheet and provided with pluraliti ot' iolds one o'l which is adapted to form a locking flap. and means to secure said folds in their "folded position.

A. sheet holder comprising; a sheet oi? material having; extending outwardly from it intermediate opposite edges. a piece of material formed with plurality of tolds one of which is adapted to form a locking: flap and a clip having a slot to adapt it to embrace the ends of the Folds and the juntaposed portion of the sheet.
