Fort Worth, in the county of Tarrant and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in -Collapsible Coops, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to coops for poultry and the like, and refers more particularly to a collapsible coop that may be folded in a minimum of space when not in use, and may be quickly and readily extended from the minimum of space to its open position for use.

Features of the invention are the durability and simplicity of construction and the ease of which the coop may be set up for use, or collapsed forstorage or for return v shipment.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a coop that because of its simplicity and few working parts, may be manufactured for a small cost, and will withstand hard usage.

Other objects and features as well as the above will be set forth in the'course of the following description of an embodiment of the invention, taken in connection with the drawings attached hereto in which;

Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the coop in an extended position.

Figure 2 is a top or plan view of the invention.

Figure 3 is a detail view, showing the method of folding the sides of the coop.

Figure 4 is a view of the invention in a collapsed position.

Figure 5 is a section of the framework of the coop showing the clasp arrangement.

Following the figures, in Figure 1, my preferred embodiment of the invention. is shown. in which the top 1. and bottom 2 are set forth, same having a substantial wood and wire constriuztion, the ends 3 fastened to the bottom by staples 6-7) and the sides k fastened to the bottom by staples we. The sides a]: are adapted to slide clearly upon the guide wires 8 as the top of the coop is raised away from the bottom, catches 9 supporting the guide wires 8 at their middle portion, and at the same time serving as a means for checking the outward movement of the ends 3 when they are in the raised 13, 1923. In Figure 4:, the coop is shown in collapsed position, with the top and cover structure removed to show the construction and arrangement of the sides and their guides.

In Figures 1 and 4, 10 represents the checking means for the outward movement of the sides, same being situated on the sides of the top centrally below the side edges.

It will be seen that the sides are raised first, and the ends after the sides, and the latter are raised against theside' guides. It should be understood that the construction can be of any suitablematerial and may vary as to fastening and movement locking details, without departing from the spirit or intent of the invention, the idea being to do away with all but the necessary construction, the sides cannot be over one half in height to the width of the top, so that folding may be possible.

What is claimed is: I

1. In a collapsible coop or the like, a bottom and a top of equal size, sides whose height is less than half thewidth of the top or the bottom, guides extending laterally beneath the top of the coop at each end, adapted to be slidably engaged by the upper edges of the sides, the lower edgesof the sides being hinged to the bottom, .ends hinged at their bottom sides to the bottom of the coop, and movable. in an upward and outward direction, and means be low the top to limit the movement of the sides and ends, and means on the sides to check and lock the ends, substantially as described.

2. In a collapsible coop, having a top and bottom of equal size, ends and sidespivot= ally attached at the bottom, the upper edges of the sides engageably guided by laterally extending means below the top at each end,

15 on the sides and ends to look same together,

and a cover slidably engaged over the open ing in the top.

4;. A collapsible coop having sides and ends pivoted to the side and end edges of the bottom; and guides and movement limiting means in the top for the said sides and ends; an opening in the top; a cover for said opening in slidable attachment thereto, and means on the sides or ends at their edges to lock same together in rigid relation ship.
