Description

Patented Mar. 17, 1925.
WILLIE BARTO'E MILLER, or LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
PA ENTOF IcE.
TRUNK STRAP.
Application filed April 30, 1924. .Serial Nb; "710,0sf
7'0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WVILLIE B. MILL R, a citizen of the United States, residing at Little Rock, in the county of Pulaski and State This invention also consists in certain other features of construction andyin the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to beihereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and1 specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote'like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a view showing the invention in use.
Figure 2 is a View of the improvedbuckle.
In these views, the trunk or box is shown at A in dotted lines and the flexible members are shown as ropes or cables 1 and straps 2, the ropes being arranged at the lower part of the trunk or box and the straps at the upper part thereof. The loose ends of the flexible members are connected together "by thebuckles 13, each. of which is of, substan tially hour-glass shape with the bottom'part being of V-shape, as shown at 3. A tongue 4 is connected with the bar 5 which connects the constricted central part of the device together, the tongue engaging, the top part tongue pivoted to the bar for engaging a of the device in the usual manner. The tongues of the devices are arranged to engage holes formed in the straps while the cables or ropes are adapted to be tied to the V-shaped lower part of the devices, asclear- 1y shown in Figure 1.
It will thus be seen that with this invention a trunk or box can beeasily and quickly tied as it is simply necessary to place the' trunk or box upon the ropes or cables and then place the straps upon the trunk or box and fasten the ends of the straps to the ends of the ropes by the devices B.
It is thought from the .foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided thatsuch changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is 1- 1. A fastener for a trunk or box comprising a longitudinally extending cable and transversely extending cables connected at their centers with the longitudinally extending cables, a longitudinally extending strap and transversely arranged straps connected with the first strap and buckles for engaging the loose ends of the straps and adaptedto be tied to the loose ends of the cables, said buckle consisting of a member having a constricted central part, a bar connecting the sides of the constricted part together, a
strap andv the lower part of the devicebeing of V-shape to receive the rope end.
2; A buckle of the class described eomprising a. body'of substantially hour-glass shape with its lowerend of V-shap, a bar connecting the constricted central portion together and a tonguepivoted on'said bar.
In testimony whereof I affixmysignature.
