1 concrete compoSition.
An object is to provide a concrete incinerator of simple and substantial construction and one in which provision is made for expansion and contraction of the body or shell to secure durability and long life.
Other ob'ects and advantages will be made mani est in the followin g speeification of an embodiment cf the invention ill'ustrated in the accompanying drm'vings wherein 4 Fig. 1. is u perspective bf an embdimen t of theincinrator. A
Fig. 2 is a side el6vation, parts being broken .a'.way.
- Fig. 3 is a. plan and partial sectional vi ew. One of the broad purp'dses of the present invention is to provide a domestic incinerator of' such construction that the fire hazard made ossible by the contact of objects against t e exterior of the incinerator may be materially reduced and practically overcome. The i1'1cinerator is largely if not wholly construoted of a fire-res1sting material with small 01 no exterior metal exposures likely to ignite objects brushin against the incinerator While highly heate The incinerator as shown includes a substantially annular concrete shell 01 fire-box constructed of a, plurality of matching seg ments 6, forming a frustum of a cone, such segments being provided with longitudinal matching edges. These segments are made of a fire-resisting composition, and preferably are of a. concrete structure having reenforcing wires 0r fabric 7. This form of incinerator is provided with a, spark-arresting screen 16 Which is preferably hingedly con nected at 16 120 the open t0p of the incinerator so that the screencan be readily shel The grate-ring 2'is provided with'.
lifted to permit discharging the rubbish'intb the incinerator. This form of 'incinerator is adapted to be arran ed With its lower and or base directly. u po n t e ground and 'the base and there is arranged a foundati0n in the f on n of a-monolit cf substa'ntiallgcirculzr outline and which is ada ted to surrounded by theinciheratorf.
spilaable grate means, here sltown as nons1st mg of a numbpr of arallel grate-bars 3, wh1ch may be imbed ed in the top of a ri1ag 2.
he shell is provided with means for enabling draught-flow and for cleaning out, as shown. The shell has a. draught-aper- .ture 4 which ma'.y be closed or partial ly closed by suitable draught-controlling means here representd as a closure block5.
This type; of incinerator may be readily manufactured at a, manufacturing plant and the -parts ms. be compactly nested f01 stora"e and s pment and can be readily instal ed by any one without skill on 100ations such, as in yards or lots in built-up 75 communities or elsewherza. This incinerator is of very inexpensive form and method of construct1on and materials and provides a safe and simple means for the burning of domestic waste, and. rubbish and for the purpose of burning of waste and rubbish of var1ous institutions, particularly merchandising houses.
Further embodiments, modifications and variations may be resorted 1:0- within the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. An incinerator comprising an annular reinforced concrete shell made in t-wo pieces fitting together on vertical lines and open ab both ends, one end. being adapted to rast upon the ground and the other and being adapted to receiVe material to be burned, a spark-arresting screen hinged in osition to close the up er end, there being a draft openin at t e lower end and a, movable block ?or regulating the drmft opei1ing, a monolithic grate ring fitting within the lower end and adapted tq rest upon the groul 1d and grate bars having their ends &te
embedded in the ring, the ring having a radial slot adapted to be in line with the draft opening.
2. An incinerator consisting of a shell formed of two monolithic segments meeting on vertical lines and having a draft opening at the bottom and a filling openin' .at the top, a monolithic ring fitting wi in the lower end 0f the shcll and having a radial slot adapted to be in line with the draft opening, and grate bars extending above und across the ring' with their ends embedded in the rin%l.
In testimony w ereof I have signed my name to this specification.
