UNITED STATES FRANK E. PETERSON, OF ALICE, TEXAS.
SPRING WHEEL.
Application filed July 30, 1923. Serial 1T0. 654,739
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK E. PETERSON, a citizen of the United States residin Alice, in the county of Jim \Vells and tate of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Spring Wheels, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a spring Wheel, the general object of the invention being to support the rim by a plurality of springs which are connected with the hub of the wheel.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described,
illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the improved wheel. I
Figure 2 is a section on line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is an elevation of the hub with the removable hub disc removed.
Figure at is a section on line H of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a section on line" 55 of Figure 3.
Figures (3 and 7 are views showing the positions'which the springs will assume un der the load.
In' these views 1 indicates the hub of the wheel and 2 indicates the rim, the two parts being connected together by the spring stri s 3. Each strip is provided with a double loop 4 which forms an inwardly exto discs 11 of the hub.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the ends of the spokes are securely connected with the hub and rim and due to the peculiar form of the spokes the wheel will have great shock absorbing qualities. Figure 6 shows how the part 5 will rest against the part 6 when a slight shock takes place and Figure 7 shows the position of the parts under a greater shock. Any desired form of tire, shown at 12, can be used.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
\Vhat I claim is A wheel of the class described comprising a hub, a rim, spring spokes connecting the rim with the hub, each spoke having a double loop forming an inwardly extendingpart which is arranged between the radial parts of each adjacent pair of spokes.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
FRANK E. PETERSON.
