y The valve 32 will open upon occasion of abnormal pressure in chamber 6 and valve 35 vWill open upon occasion of subnormal pressure due to condensation of vapor or steam in chamber 6.
A vent valve structure 38, such as used on radiators and the like in steam heating systems, is connected to chamber 6 in an opening indicated by dotted lines 39, but in this instance in the opposite side ofthe wall, as shown in Fig. 1. This vent structure contains an expansible member 410, its upper end fixedV to a vertically adjustable screw 41, its lower end forming a valve l2 to close the port 43 when steam or heated vapor raises the temperature of the member 40.
In the operation of the device pressure from chamber 6 is communicated to chamber 13 thru the openings 14 and16, this depresses the mercury in chamber 13 and raisesit .in chamber 18, thus raising the float 2() and partially closing the ports 23 by the valve 22, thus restricting the flow of gas thru the pipe 25 tothe burner (not shown). When pressure in chamber 6, and the container to which it is connected, is decreased, the mercury in chamber 13 will rise and correspondingly fall in chamber 18, thus opening the fuelv valve to a greater degre and supplying -more gas to the burner.
In the event that-Water or other liquid Ashould find its wayinto chamber 6, it will flow into chamber 10, but before Ait can get into chamber 9 the float 12 will close the valve ports 15 and shut olf communication with chamber 13, hence water cannot be admitted into the chamber containing mercury.
To vary the pressure to be maintained in chamber 6 the plunger 27 may be raised or lowered.
IVhile I have herein shown and described a single embodiment of my invention itis manifest that changes may bek made therein within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. l
For convenience of claim drafting I have called chamber 18 the first chamber; cham ber 6 the second chamber' and chamber 13 the third chamber.-
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A fuel regulator, for maintaining subl stantially constant pressure in a container A cap 37 is threaded-intercommunicating chambers, the first chamber having a float controlled valve to Avary the flow of fuel therethrough and'havinga gas inlet and outlet pipe connected thereto; the second chamber for connection to a container tov be heated by the fuel controlled by the aforesaid valve; the third chamber connected thru ports to the second chamber' andV connected tothe rst chamber by a conduit containing a mobile fluid and a float valve controlling` the connection between the second and third chambers. A fuel regulator, for maintaining substantially constant pressure in a container to be heated by the fluid-fuel controlled thereby comprising a casing having communicating chambers, the first chamber hav ing al float-controlled valve arranged to vary the vflow of fuel and having an inlet and an outlet pipe connected thereto; the second chamber, for connection to a chamber to be heated by the controlled fuel; the thi-rd chamber connected thru ports to the second chamber; a float valve for controlling said ports when the second chamber is partially filled with Water, to close communication between the second and third chambers; a
conduit between the first and third chamber; a mobile liquid in the conduit partially filling first and third chamber and' ardisplacing plunger in the third chamber movable into said liquid to vary the head thereof in the first chamber. Y
