ap licationafiil'ea are a0, 1924-. ere... m r- To all whom it 'maq eonoem:
Be it known that 1, E2123 DIXON, a citi t zen of the United-States, residing at Bristol, in the countyof Bristol and State of Rhode lsland have invented new and useful Improvements. in lVeight Hooks, of
- provide a weight hook structure which has novel means for adjusting same so as to bring the weight directly beneath the roll or at a distance therefrom depending upon thf. bearing that is required between the r0 ls. i
A further object of the invention is to provide simple and economical adjusting means for attaining the afore-mentioned obj ect which is capable of easy and quick adjustment and which is readily accessible for purpose of such adjustment.
The invention has still further and other objects which will be later set forth and manifested in the course of the following description.
In the drawings; Figure 1 is a side elevation of the invention, partly broken away and in section showing the device in solid lines ininitial position when placed on the roll and showing in dotted lines normal operative position thereof Figure l.
Figure 2 is a top plan view: Figure 3, is afront elevation, and 1 Figure 4, is a section on lined-. 4 of In proceeding in accordance with the present invention a saddle is employed which. consists of a body 1, concaved at 2 to seat on the upper are of a roll 3. A
curved finger piece 4: extends outwardly from one end of the body 1 and is provided for the purpose of lifting the weight feed oil by capillary attraction to theroll end. through the enlarged end of slot.1 8
3; The finger piece :4 is 'located on one side of the 'oiljcharnberwhilethe opposing side is flanked by an. enlargelrrent *8 which extends for a distance a'bove'the 't'o p tofthe oil chaainloerand formed with a threaded opening in Y which is tlrreadedly received ascrew' 10, The inner end of thefscrew pros;
jects beyond the inner end of the enlargement'S and is provided with a screw-driven receiving slot 11, while theouter or front; end of the screw is provided with a pair of spaced disks 12 and 13'ofwhich 12v is of less diameter than 13 and is wardlyof the'latter. 1 .7
The weight'hook consists of ametal strap 14 having a hook 15 at its lower end by means of which theeye 16 ofthe' weight 1711 a e tina is attached thereto; while its upper endis formed with a key-hole slot 18, the disk w V i 12 being movable through the large end of the slot. l
- From the foregoing it willbe apparen N that the screw may be inserted at'its free and the strap then'movedi to lie in the space. between thetwo disks 12 and 13. The screw may be "easily, and quickly adjusted by use The weight of r hold the screw against accidental rotation and the lattercan be easily-and economically replaced upon wear or breakage. 1 I
Having thus described my invention,v
what I claim asnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent is j i j lrIna device of the type set forth, a
' body formed toseat on aroll and having a fingerpiece at one end and an enlargement V at its opposite end, an oil chamber between. the'finger piece and enlargement fand'the enlargement having a threaded opening disber, a strap having a weight at one end and 1 spaced disks on one end the" smaller of 'which 106' posed above the finger piecef'afndoil chain i I .akey-hole slot in its opposite end, and J screw having a pair of vari-diametered' and U is movable through the enlarged part of' the key-hole slot so as to dispose the strap in the space between the disks, thein'ner end of the screw having a screw driver receiving slot.
-' 2. 111 conibih'ationiwith a 1 top roll saddle having a'ioll-engagi'ngseat between its v ends, 'a' -weight -Tear 1 ying[ hook disposed .wh uy' beyond an en'd of said saddle, and" means to connect, the hook to saidxend of the saddle so astobalusethe Weight to lie beneath the roll and in the vertical plane "in which the roll lies. y
In" combination with a. top roll sad-' (1 1e, as'crew carried by the saddle and having jvw'pair of vai'i-diametered and'spaced strap against' remoyal froin the screw With-f out removal of the. screw from; thesaddle. 4; In combination with atop roll saddlehaving a roll-engaging se'atbetweeri its ends and having, a, finger extending outwardly 'frorn one end thereof, a screw extended out- Wardly from the opposite end of the'sa-d g d'le, 'gmd'a Weight-carrying hook connected. to fthevserew and disposed Wholly beyond said end of the saddle. f e
Intestimony whereof I havesigned .n'amento this specification in the presenee of two" subscribing Witnesses. '1
