A further object of theinvention is to associate with the indicator a bell which can be rung from the exterior and also to arrange the annunciator so that it has `a pleasing exterior appearance and suoli that it can be installed at comparatively small expense and when installed will be positive in action.

On the front of the door 1 I permanently 50 mount a somewhat elliptical shaped block 2 and above this I locate a case 3 of fanciful l shape, the case presenting adial 41 having the hours indicated thereon-and being provided with a central spindle 5 suppliedwith a pointer 6.- Inside the door the spindle is fitted with a finger piece 7 `and a pointer'8, the pointer operating over a.v further time dial 9, the 'arrangement being such that both pointers will indicate. the same time when turned bythe occupant of the house. Obviously, by manipulating the linger piece 7 one can set the indicator or hand 6 to show Va fixed time, which time'will indicate when the party will return.
The block'2 .hastheifront face thereof Vgouged out tovprovide a front cavity 1() in which I mount a sign board or plate 1'1, the ends ofthe plate terminating in end spindles l2 and 13 rotatably mounted in the ends of the block. The plate is designed to normally close the enti'anceto the cavity and the cavity is provided to allow the plate to rotate. On one side of the plate I print the word Out and on the otherv side the word In, with a resultthatone, by observing the plate, can determine whether the occupant is in or out. Centrally the plate is provided Vwith a stop lug 14 adapted to* enter receiving notches 15 and 16 provided in t-lie block and limit the swing of the plate.

On the' spindle 13 of the plate I mount a pulley 17 which is suitably pocketed within the block and is protected by a guard plate 18. To the back of the 'v door I secure va bearing plate 19 which carries anopposing pair of lugs 2O and 21, the lugs supporting a pin 22 on which I mountrotatably a further pulley 23.*. An elongated thimble like cap 24 isv attached tothe back of the plate 19 and encloses the latter pulley and yhouses a coiled spring. 26, Aone end of which is seated at the base of the lugs and the other end of which is connected to a pushpin 26 which is provided at its .outer end with a knob 27 and is supplied with a contracted neck 28 adjoining the knob. f
The push pin passes slidably out through a key hole slot 29 provided in the cap and the neck of the pin 26 is designed such that the pin can be locked inV its inner position by entering the neck in the slot. TheV spring the lower endof which is'suitably-anchored to the plate. The latter spring is housed within a suitable casing 32. The spring' is considerably strongerthan the spring-32 and in its extended position, such being vwhen the pin 26 is outhiholdsthe spring l extended, the line being taut. n
