Be it known that I, BENJAMIN Bronnen CnoMwnLn, a citizen of the `United States, residing at Dayton, in thecounty of Montgomery and -State of (hi'o, have invented certain new and usefulli improvements i-n Body-'Treating Apparatus, of which the "following is-a. specification.
This invention `relates to body treating apparatus and more particularly to means whereby the different parts of .the body may be subjected to a heat treatment for sweating out through the pores thereof, thegerms of different- -diseases for thereby providing 'l believe, an absolute cure for certain otherwise almost incurable diseases.
The main purpose of' my invention Vis to provide such a body treating apparatus wherein the same comprises a. steam generating plant that inclndestherein supporting elements for certain chemicals the efliuv-ia o f which are drawn offby `the steam and led to certain devices for the` reception of the head, `feet and legs and body of the patient, whereby the same will be subjected to the chemically. treated vapors for drawing fout of the body, through the pores thereof, disease germs. a
further object of this invention is to provide 4such a body treating lapparatus that is .extremely simple of construction and one that may be manufactured and marketed at small cost so as to enable the procuring of the same by the public in general.
Ti-th the above and other objects in view which will appear as the nature vof the invention is 'better understood', the same comprises the novel form, combination and 'arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed. j

First havingy reference kto Figures 1:, 3 and 4L, wherein there is shown a novel vapor generating means that includes a. supjjoort interiorally thereof for receiving certain chemicals that cot-mingle with the vapors and are carried olf thereby for purposes presently to beset forth, 5 preferably circular in opened at its low-er end. this casing by brackets G adjacent the lower open end thereof is a water tanlr 7 formed centrally with a vertical open-ended conical-shaped heat radiating tube 8 beneath which tuloe is a `suitable form of gas or fluid fuel burner 9 for tube S and consequently heating the water within the receptacle 7 for producing steam. The casing 5' adjacent its lower end is formed with a circular row of openings 10 for the entrance of air, and being also provided at this lower end with a door 11, Figure 1, whereby' the burner may be removed for cleaning and repair purposes.
Extending through thecasing 5 and leading-into the receptacle 7 is a water pipe 12 that is in communication at its outer end with 'a water level gauge 13, this pipe 12 also having communication with a valved pipe 14e` that is in communication at its opposite end with a water tank 15 into which extends a supply pipe 16 the flow of water therethrough being controlled by a float operated valve 17 Figure 1, it being obvious that whenV the supply of water within the'receptacle d7 is low the valve within the pipe 1l may "beopened for supplying the same from thegtafnlr 15, 'l

The upper section of equipped with an entrance the kegs of chemicals may whereby the tray, etc., may be removed for cleaning or repair purposes.
The upper end of the casing 5 is equipped with a discharge pipe 23 that is in turn equipped with a damper 24, this pipe being in communication with a horizontal drum 25 from which extends a vapor conveying pipe 26 that leads to a drum 27 in which are caught the condensed vapors for preventing passage of the same to the different body treating devices through the medium of a pipe 28. Leading into the before mentioned drum 25 at its opposite end is an air inlet pipe 29 that is equipped with a damper 30l for obvious purposes.
In Figures 5 and 6 wherein there is shown the head treating cabinet, 31 designates a drum-shaped casing that is formed at its front side with an opening to one edge of [the casing 5 is shaft 22 whereby be positioned and y which is hingedly vconnected a door 32. The
bottom wall of this casing is provided with a relatively wide slot 33 registering at its front end with the before mentioned opening in the front side of said casing for receiving the' neck of the patient. The door 32 is formed with a` suitably shaped opening 34 through which projects the face of the patient when the door is closed, for pre` venting suffocation, the edges of the opening in said door being' covered with a suitable material 35 for preventing the cutting of the face, this covering being provided on its outer side with hooks 36 whereby a towel may be secured thereto for allowing the patient to mop his face as the head is being subjected to the vapor treatment, this casing 31 receiving its vapor and heated air supply from a. flexible tube 36 that leads into said casing atthe upper end thereof and is attached at its opposite end to the before mentioned pipe 28 of apparatus.
Upon opposite sides of this casing 31 are relatively long links 37 that are pivoted at their upper ends as at 38 to the casing and have pivotally secured thereto the forward ends of spaced parallel rearwardly extending flat-like. rods 39 that are pivotally secured at their inner ends to brackets 40 rigidly secured tothe wall or other suitable supthe steam generating port. These flat-like rods 39 are normally Separated for maintaining the casing in the Figures 5 and 6, by springs 4l that are connected at their oppothe door 32 of the caslng opened this casing may be swung downwardly for allowing of the proper position of the head therein.
In Figure 2 there is, shown a cabinet for the vapor treatment of the entire body with the exception of the head that includes a relatively large casing 43 preferably circular in cross section and formed with a conical top 44 in the apex of which is a circular opening through which the head of the patient extends. Interiorly of this casing 43 and supported above the lower edge thereof is a floor 45 that is dished as shown, whereby the condensed vapors will be conveyed to an outlet pipe 46, the chemically treated steam and hot air entering this cabinet through a pipe 47 that has communication with the before mentioned pipe 28 of the generating apparatus.
The casing 43 and its conical top 44 are provided with registering inlet doors 43 and 44 respectively, for allowing the patient to enter the cabinet.
In Figures 7 and 8 there is shown a means whereby the feet and legs of the patient may be subjected to my vapor process, this means comprising essentially a base 48 the top wall thereof being inclined rearwardly as shown and being formed with a pairof spaced parallel extending circular channels 49 within which are positioned adjustable cylinders 50 each. of which comprises an outer and an inner shell, 5l and 52, respectively. As more clearly shown in Figure 7 the outer shell 5l is closed at its lower end and is adapted for slidably receiving the shell 52 which is open at its opposite end and may be slid outwardly of the shell 52 for accommodating the cylinders to different lengths of legs.
Each of the before mentioned cylinders 50 has communication with a drum 53 through the medium of a valved pipe 54 it being of course understood that said drum 53 is in communication through the medium of a flexible or lother pipe, not shown, with the before mentioned pipe 28 of the vapor generating apparatus. For carrying oft the condensed vapors each cylinder is provided with an outlet nipple 55. f The specific operation together with numerous advantages of a body treating apparatus of this character will be at o nce appreciated by those skilled in the medical art and even though I have herein set forth the most practical embodiments of this invention with which I am at the present time familial', it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein Without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a body treating apparatus, means for generating chemically treated vapors including a casing, a Water receptacle Within the casing, means for heating the Water Within the receptacle, a support Wit-hin the casing and above said Water receptacle for receiving medicinal chemicals the eliiuvia of which are to be extracted by the generated steam during the travel of the same upwardly, and a cabinet in communication With said vapor generating means for receiving the part of the body to be treated.
2. In a body treating apparatus, means for generating chemically heated vapors, said means comprising a vertically elongated casing, a Water receptacle Within the lower part of said casing, the bottom of said receptacle being fashioned to form a.
heat radiant, heating means for producing a flame to impinge upon said radiant, a partition Within said casing and above said Water receptacle, said partition being formed with a centrally locatedv opening, through which steam laden vapors pass, a deflector supported in spaced relation above said partition and over said opening in the latter, said partition being adapted te support medicinal preparations, the curative properties of Which are extracted by the surrounding and upwardly passing steam, and a discharge conduit for the chemically treated vapors.
3. A structure as set Jforth in claim 2, wherein said discharge conduit is provided with a passage, for admitting atmospheric air, said conduit being also formed With a condensation trap.
