D. C. STROMEYER AUTOMATIC FAN AND VENTILATING APPARATUS Filed May 9, 1925 of 1 0 P Ill/I'llllllllkd l 1 Patented Feb.17, 1925.
PATENT OFFICE.
DIETRICH c; sTnoMEYEn, on sat LOUIS, MISSOURI.
AUTOMATIC FAN AND VENTILATING APPARATUS.
Application filed May 9, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DIETRICH C. STRO- MEYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the city of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Automatic Fan and Ventilating Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in fans and ventilating apparatus.
The prime object of this invention is to provide a fan and ventilating apparatus that is mounted on a truck so that same can be easily moved from one room to another.
A further object of the invention is to provide a ventilating device that can be transported from room to room for dispensing the hot air from the rooms.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a fan adapted to be mounted on a truck and operated by an electric motor for withdrawing the foul air from a room and dispensing same through a telescopic pipe secured to one side of the housing in which the fan and motor are located.
And a still further object of my invention is to provide a device of the character indicated, which is simple in construction, durable, eflicient for the purpose intended, and one that can be manufactured and placed on sale at a relatively low cost.
These and like objects of the invention will be better understood as the description follows and as is specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification,
Fi 'ure 1 is a side elevation of a fan and ventilating apparatus constructed in accordance with my invention, and
Figure 2 is a vertical section through same.
Referring to the accompan ing drawing in detail, like characters wil be used to designate like parts in the different views.
In the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a housing which is mounted on wheels 2 and rovided with a handle 3 so that the hous- 1ng can be easily moved from one room to another as the case may require.
Mounted in the housing and secured in position by means of screws 1 is a cylindrical casing 5 which is provided with a Serial No. 637,845.
spout 6 that extends through an opening formed in the front wall of the housing 1. A shaft 7 is rotatably supported on the ends of bearings 8 that are positioned in the housing.
A fan comprising a series of blades 9 which are mounted in pairs on the shaft 7 and within the cylindrical casing 5 are adapted to be rotated in said casing by means of an electric motor 10, which is connected to the shaft 7 by means of a sprocket chain 11, which passes over sprockets formed on the end of the shaft 7 and one end of the drive motor 10.
An extension 12 is connected to the spout 6 by means of a clamp 13. The extension 12 has a sliding piece 14 positioned therein, which is provided with a spray nozzle 15. By having the piece 141 slidable in the extension 12, the length of the discharge pipe from the housing can be lengthened or shortened as the case may require. The spray nozzle 15 permits the air to be broken up as same is discharged from the housing containin the fan. A brace 16 supports the eixtenslon 12 from the front of the housmg Each side of the housing 1 is provided with a sliding door 17 which regulates the air permitted to be drawn into the housing by means of the fan blades 9.
In view of the foregoing description of my invention, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it is thought that any further explanation as to the construc tion, operation, and objects of this invention is unnecessary.
lVhile I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention, I realize that various minor changes may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed, and therefore, I do not wish to limit myself to the exact details of construction shown, 1101- to the combination and arrangement of parts.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A portable ventilating apparatus com prising a housing mounted on wheels, a cylindrical casing positioned in the housing, a fan rotatably mounted in the casing, means within said housing for operating said fan, a spout formed on the casing and extending through said housing, and a spray and extending therefrom, a flexible connecnozzle mounted on said spout for the purtion interposed 1n said telescopic pipe, and
pose specified. a spray nozzle mounted on said pipe.
2. A portable ventilating apparatus com- In testimony whereof, I have afiixed my prising ,a housing mounted on whfels, a 'si gnfatiire -in ;he presehce (if twowitnesses. cylindrical casing positioned in said hous- V DIETRICH C.
