Description
ROTARY PUMP Filed Feb. 25,1924
' 30 valved orifices, and which serves Patented .Feb. 17, 1925i UNITED 'STATES PATENT OF mes.
Application .fi ld I'ebrnary 25, 1924} Serial No. 695,061.
has, among other advantages, the
rthr aLdvantagesn of dispensing with the -complicated devices existing in s1milar 'apparatuses, such as connecting rods, cams, crank-shafts, etc.; of being comparatively cheap to manufacture;
and of requiring only low power for driving 20 it. It consists substantially of a series of cylindersarranged in the form of a cross and preferably nstructedas a single casting, in each of which cylinders a piston of suitable form is adapted to work under the action of asPring which has a constant tendency to force the said piston outwards. This cross is stationary, being fixed at its centre on a hollow axle which is in communication with the -aforesaid cylinders tfhro h or elivery of the comprcssed fluid.
The parts above referred to are arranged in a movable drum or casing which can be rotated'by means of a driving belt pasihg 85 around its periphery. One of the side members of this drumrotates on the hollow axle aforesaid, the other side member hein fixed to a stub shaft mounted, like the said ollow axle, upon a suitable support, or being do coupled to the end of a driving shaft.
. The drum comprises its inner periphery a guide track which is ectze'ntri to the centre of the said drum, and against which the spring-pressed pistons flconstanfly bear. The rotation of this drum hasthe eflect of causin the pistons to make suc: cessively to-an -fromovements, 'whereby these pistons in succession suck the fluid which enters the cylinders through suitable 5o ducts that are provided:-on one hand in one of the side members of the drum and on the other hand, at the base of each cylinder, and which saidpistons deliver the said fluid into the hollow axle whence it is led to its phwe of use.
[In order to facilitate the understanding of the description hereinafier given, the a c companying drawings illustrate by way of example a constructional form of the improved apparatus of this invention.
ig*ure 1 is a cross Section of the improved apgaratns taken at right angles to its axis, an

LikeWise, the p aratus may be driven b direct drive from 516 end'of a. driving shn by means of a collpling sleeve or s'uitable toothed gearing.
Having now' particularly desribed and ascertain'ed the'nture of my said invntion and in whaQmanner the same' is tobe performed, I declare that what I "daim is:
