No Drawing.
To all whom it 12mg} concern:
Be it known that I, ELIZABETH A. HurrnAMr, a resident of the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hair Pomade, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the present invention is the provision of a preparation or composition to be used to promote the growth and imrove the quality and appearance of the hair in a simple practical and thoroughly eflicient manner.
Hair tonics or compositions for treating hair are generally used when hair is turning prematurely gray or is falling out. The causes are usually disease or malnutrition of the scalp. The first may be properly treated by suitable medication, while the latter will yield to correct feeding.
Practicalexperience in the use of my composition hereinafter described has demonstrated that by the use of my composition the hair is greatly strengthened, as well as the growth thereof promoted and likewise the turning of the hair gray prematurely greatly lessened, as well as removes d druff.
The present invention, forming the subject matter of this application, consists of a preparation or composition comprising the following ingredients 2 lbs. extra amber petroleum, 2 oz. dissolved bone marrow, 18 grains quinine sulphate U. S. P., 1 oz. oil of tar, lb. standardized fluid extract cinchona, U. S. P., 4 oz. imported bay rum, 82 per cent proof, denatured with quinine, 1 teaspoonful of sulphur, 2 oz. glycerine, 1 teaspoonful of oil of lemon, 2 teaspoonfuls of oil of peppermint.
In order to thoroughly mix and combine hours and Application filed January 19, 1923. Serial lie/613,762.
the above ingredients I first. beat the petroleum and dissolved bone marrow well together; then add the oil of tar and thoroughly mix; when this mixture appears to be smooth I'add and thoroughly mix with it the cinchona fluid extract; when the heavy ingredients have I add the mixture of liquids such as 1mported bay rum, dissolve the quinine in the bay rum and add the glycerine,s ulphur, oil of lemon, and oil of peppermint. This mixture should 1then be beaten for about two t en tainer for about three days. It should then be beaten for about half an hour and it is thpn ready to be put up in small jars for- S21 9. e i i This preparation or by pourmg same on the hair and the same thoroughly into the scalp.
By the use of this preparation or composition not only is prematurely gray hair discouraged but the growth of the hair is promoted and dandrufl destroyed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new rubbing and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States 1. A composition for treatment of the hair, comprising amber petroleum, an animal fat, oil of tar, cinchona, sulphur, essential ols and diluents to produce .a substantially creamy pomade.
2. A composition for treatment of the hair, comprising amber petroleum in major proportion, oil of tar, sulphur, vegetable tonic substances, glycerine and bay rum, with essential o'ls of lemon and peppermint.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
