Description

Feb. 3 1925. 1,525,166
w. H. CAMERON THERAPEUTI C APPLI CATOR Filed Sept. 15, 1922 Patented Feb. 3, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM H. CAMERON, OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNORTO STANDARD CHEMICAL COMPANY, OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
THERAPEUTIC APPLICATOR.
Application filed September 15, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. CAM- ERON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Therapeutic Applicators; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in therapeutic applicators and more particularly to holding means for a plaque which carries radio-active material.
One object of my present invention is to provide simple and efiicient means for adjustably connecting the body portion of the holder with a handle member, whereby the radio-active plaque may be adjusted at any desired angle with respect to the handle member, and fixed in the position to which it may be adjusted.
Vith this and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view illustrating my invention. Figure 2 is a sectional view, and Figure 3 is a sectional view taken at right angles to Figure 2.
In the drawings, 1 represents a plaque comprising a metal container in which radio-active glaze is located, said glaze being such as disclosed in Letters-Patent to C. H. Viol January 2nd 1917 and designated by No. 1,210,731.
A holder for the plaque is represented at 2 and is made with a rear end flange 3 and side flanges 4c, the latter being slotted at 5 so that the forward end portions of said flanges will form resilient fingers 6 to grasp Serial No. 588,386.
cidental displacement. Th rear end flange of the holder may be provided with a hole 7 to permit the introduction of a suitable tool for facilitating the removal of the laque.
The holder 2 is provided on its back with parallel ears 88 between which a nut 9 is loosely mounted on a pin 10 fixed to said ears and extending from one to the other. This nut receives the threaded shank 11 of a handle stem 12, and the latter is threaded at its other end and enters a threaded socket 13 in a handle 1 1.
the plaque holder is thus pivotally connected With a handle member and may be readily adjusted to any desired angle relatively to the axis of the handle, in which adjustment it may be held rigidly by turning the handle stem until the threaded shank 11 binds tightly against the pin 10 on which the holder is mounted.
With the use of my improvements, the applicator plaque may be readily adjusted to adapted to engage said pivot pin to lock the holder in adjusted position.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM H. CAMERON.
