"Be it known that'I, ANNA RflVoLvEairoN, a citizen of the United S ates, residing at Los Angeles, in the countyf Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Needles, of which thefollowin'g is a Speciica'tion.-

This inventici relates to needles, and particularly to a Aneedle having hook ends, and whichV needle is adaptai le for drop stitch work in the repairing of silk hosiery and the like. i

The invention has for an object the provision of a device of this character which is simple of construction, easy to use and which performs thel function required of it neatly and rapidly.

With the above and other objects in view, theinvention consists in the novel and useful provision, Aformation, construction, association and relative arrangement of the elements of the needle, all as shown in one embodiment of the accompanying drawings, described generally, and finally pointed out in the claims.

Referring with particularity to the drawings, the hosiery of Figurel is designated by A, and in which hosiery it will be noted that there is a run at the point marked 41, in which the woof threads have become separated from the warp threads, wlth .usual appearance ol sheds. The present .device is particularly adaptable for repairing runs and said device is designated by B, which device B comprises a needlehaving a uniformly tapering cross section from a. point of maximum diameter shown at 2, and said cross section is circular, as shown in Figure 4. The operation. uses and advantages of the device are as follows:

In Figures 7 and 8 it is noted that the needle is revolved to the right in the drawing of the thread 8 through the loop 7. The needle is now slipped through the loop formed by the thread 8 and in doing so the loop is forced to slide over the uniformly tapering body of the needle, and this distends the loop slightly. The needle now assumes the position shown in Figure 9 and the hook 5 which is reversed from the hook 6,' is ready to engage the next Woofthread 9, which engagement .is shown in Figure 10 at 10. The operation is then repeated, commencing from the showing-in Figure 6 on.

It is evident frointhis brief description that the needle is continuously revolved and that a series of loops are formed, one loop passing through a previously formed loop to form a connected series of loops. The

` needle by having a uniformly tapered cross section acts to distend the loop whenthesaid loop is slid over the needle, and so that the`l next woef thread is easily drawn through said loop to form anotheuloop and so on'.
