Description

H. M. SHEER HEATER FOR HOVERS AND BROODERS Filed Jan. 16 1924 W Quorum Patented Dec. 23,
UNITED STA T 0 all whom it may Be it known that Quincy, of Illinois,
TES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY M. SHEER, 0F QUINCY, ILLINOIS.
HEATER FOR HOVERS AND BROODEBS.
Application filed January 16, 1924.
I, HENRY M. SHEER, a States, residing at useful Improvements in Heaters for Hovers and Brooders, of specification.
My invention rein in heaters for hovers The ob ectis to prevent the surrounding air from and particles in which the following is a tes to an improvement and brooders.
the floating dust settling down or drifting into the air intake.
The construction 1s vere test such as is trick demonstration, or even poured the air intakes with the tubes.
By the use of a down upon the open such that even in a sesometimes given in a gasoline can be squirted ends of out danger of entering number of air intake tubes, it gives a combined and aggregated area which will provlde several times the volume of air neede there will be no suction or the burner, hence d by draft in the tubes to draw in dust or gasoline fumes in such a manner as to cause e open Xplosion to the outer or ends of the intake tubes.
Furthermore, in this present construct-ion,
even the squirting or pouring of gasoline all.
over the radiator on intake tubes will not affect the flame.
At the same time my improved burner will not create smoke and suffocating fumes,
the presence of which as is well known would be detrimental and destructive to the life of the young chicks.
In the accompanyi ng drawings Figure 1 is a vertical section of an illustrative and chosen form of my present inview show slight modificais a section through the end of the tube shown in Figure 4.
A is the burner se of the oil delivery H also supports the fixed C is a removable cured on the upper end pipe H and which pipe chamber B.
drum or radiator and carries with it the heat spreader D at the top. When access to radiator C, together with sired, the drum or the spreader D are the burner A is delifted ofi the open up Serial No. 686,636.
per end of chamber B with which the drum or radiator is held preferably in frictional contact.
The space 1 between the spreader D and the top flange D on the upper end of drum or radiator C is reduced or constricted where the products of combustion pass out by crimping down the outer edge of spreader D as shown at D This construction and arrangement insures a larger space or area 2 directly above the burner A, thus reducing back pressure against the flame.
In the plan view shown in Figure 2, one form of multiple arrangement of intake tubes E is illustrated. Obviously there might be any number of these.
Figure 3 shows the outer end of the intake tube E mitered with the air inlet from beneath just as in the construction shown in Figures 1 and 2 in which the outer ends of the intake tubes are bent downwardly.
Figure 1 shows a T E at the outer end of the intake mitered similarly to the construction shown in Figure 3.
The mitered ends of the tube and T as shown in Figures 3 and 4:, it is repeated, are intended to serve the same purpose as the downward bent ends or elbows of the construction shown in Figures 1 and 2, that is to say, to prevent explosive matter from dropping into or lodging in or being drawn in as hereinbefore explained.
I claim:
1. A heater including a chamber, a drum or radiator removably supported thereon, and having an integral outwardly extending flange at the upper end thereof, and a spreader supported by the flange and separated therefrom to provide a space for the escape of the products of combustion.
2. A heater including a chamber, a radiator supported thereon, and having an integral outwardly extending flange at the upper end thereof, a spreader supported by the flange and separated therefrom to provide a space for the escape of products of combustion, and air inlet tubes leading to the chamber, the outer ends of said tubes opening downwardly to prevent any foreign HENRY M. SHEER.
