Be itknown that I, HENRY KREJCA, a citizen ofUnited States residing at Pearl River, in the county of Iiockland and State l of New York, have -invented certain new and useful Improvements in SuctionFeeding Machines, of which the following is a specification.

Referring to the drawing more in detail,
the numeral desi ates a pair of side beams suited to rest upon the floor these beams having between them at the front a rigid cross beam 16 firmly securing them inspaced relation.
A pair of columns 17 extend upward at the front from the side beams, a similar pair 18 being disposed at the rear, both pair suppontm'g side frame elements 19 and 20 respect1vely at the right and left hand sides of the apparatus, the frame side's beinlg stiffened by a cross beam 21 extending etween the front columns. a An elongated rectangular frame is composed of endbeams 23 and side beams over which is r'emovably engaged the plat forms proper, the same being provided with upstanding guide rods 25 used to position the paper. 1
Extending down at each corner of the frame are swivelled truck wheels or casters 26 permittin trundling .the platform upon" any level an: ace, as from a storage of paper to the mechanism.
This platform is between the rear uprights 18 and the end and 28 adapted to contact with the rear side of theuprig'hts, limiting theadvance of the platform and slide as the platform is raised.

A shaft 40 is journalled in the fraine sides 19' and 20, this shaft having fixed u on it drums 41 adjacent the frames, one of the drums, next the side 20 being fast with aratchet 42 engaged by a pawl 43 drawn into operative position by a spring 44. The end of the shaft 40 projecting through i the frame 20 has ffixed upon 1t a worm wh'eel'45, spaced fromthe frameby a plate 46, pivoted at 47,- the plate having a slot in which the shaft operates as the plate is moved. i
Said plate is provided with bearings 48 in which is mounted a shaft 49 carrying a worm 50 engageable with the worm wheel 45 and provided with a reduced extension having a hand wheel 51 by which the worm may be rotated.
The worm 50 is held in engagement with the wheel 45 by means of a pin 52 fixed in a spring arm 53 attached at its upper end to the frame side and extendingdown to make contact with aprojectinglug 54 carried on the platform element 23 so that as the platform is raised a certain height, 7 the arm will be moved outwardly, allow-Q ing the plate 46 to turn on its pivot and disconnect the worm from the wheel 45, this effect-being accomplished by by a pull spring 55. r

whereby a" partial vacuum is produced.
A pin 76 is engageable by a pivoted dog 77 operated by a link 78 attached to a lever 79 whenever it "is desired to prevent the tube 73v from turning.
Attached to the tube '73 are a'pair of rigid, levers 80, I adj ustably clamped thereon, these levers carrying sucker; heads 81 of rubber and provided with sprin ,con-
trolled valves 82 to which are engage flexible tubes 83'connecting with the tube, andi a feeler disc ,84' for actuating the valve is arranged axially'of the suckers 81.
It is also to be noted that a port 85 is formed in the frame communicating with an openingin the e'ccentric'when in acertain position, whereb 7 tubes and suckers is rokento release the I sheet'of paper previously'raised by them."

In operation, the platform having been loaded with a supply of paper sheets and engaged with the uprights .18, the sheaves and cables being in 'position,'the first adjustment or rise of the platform is accomplished'by using the handwheel 5 1, bring A constant suction is maintained in the pipe 75, communicated to the tube 73 and thence to the sucker heads, which are lowered to engage the uppermost sheet, raised and advanced forward due to the cam 68, to bring rolls 99 and wheels 98, causing them to grasp the sheet which is then liberated from the suckers due to the escape of air through the port 85.
The rolls and friction Wheels then advance the sheet upon the fingers 100, the next sheet being confined by the fingers 91,
which, as has been seen are moved out of the way u on the descent of the suckers for the next s eet.
It isto be noted that the sharp spurs of the elements 87 act to raise the edges of the sheets, allowing the entrance of air between, coincidently with the raisin efiectof the suckers, assuring a positive eed of a single sheet only.
Although the foregoing is descriptive of the adhering sheet between the the preferred embodiment of the machine, it is intended to be illustrative rather than restrictive and it is within the scope of the appended claims to make minor changes which do not embrace invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A paper feeding apparatus having a pair of uprights, drums at the ends of a orizontal shaft rotatable in the uprights, a platformed truck, means for detachably engaging said truck to the uprights to slide thereon, sheaves rotatably engaged in said truck, and cables operated by said drums engaging said sheaves.
2. A paper feeding apparatus having a pair of'stationary uprights, a wheeled platform slidable thereon, means for intermittently raising the platform by power, means on said platform for automatlcally disconnecting the raising means, means for retaining the platform when in a raised position, and means for detaching the platform bodily from the apparatus.
