AMUSEMENT DEVICE. i
Application filed January 4, 1922. Seriatl No. 526,882.
' children and which is durable and inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects and objects relating to de tails of construction, combination and arrangement of parts will hereinafter appear in the detailed description to follow.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings, in which the figure is an enlarged perspective view illustrating the invention.
Referring more particularly to the draw ings, A. indicates generally a post or support, B a rocker or teeter beam and C a pair of swing frames, one being secured on each end of the beam B. Y
The beam B comprises a pair of studding which have secured between their similar ends in each instance a bar 11 by the, means of bolts as indicated at 12. Upon the upper end of the post A there is pivoted a short bar member 13 by the means of the screw or bolt indicated at 14 and said bar 13 having its ends connected to the two beam members 10 through the means of chains as inclicated at 15. The chains are adapted to per mit free rocking movement of the beam B and the bar 13 adapted to permit said beam to turn or rotate about the post A.
Adjacent the upper end of the post A there is formed a pair of opposing collars 16 which are preferably of the shape shown and spaced from each other. Between the collars 16 there is interposed an annular member freely turnable about the post A and formed with a pair of diametrically opposed ears 17. To each ear 17 there is connected a rope or cable 18 which has its other end connected with a rung 19 which extends be.- tween the beam members 10 on the associated side of the beam.
To each bar 11 there is secured a cross cross member carries a pair of hooks 21, one i at eachend thereof, whichare adapted'topivotally suspend the frames Cy Each frame C comprises the two vertical members 22 which carry at their upper ends the staples or eyes 23 adapted to connect with the hooks 21. The lower ends of these members in each instance are connected by a cross member 2a which supports a'seat 25, and. above the seat there is secured "a loop 26, said loop being connected between thevertical members 22 and secured by the means of staples or. the like as indicated a t' 27. Also it may be pointed out't-hat the bars are each provided with a plurality of holes as at 28, in order that the bars may be positioned near the pivotal center of the beam B if so desired.
Immediately below each of the swing frames C there is positioned an approach or ladder generally indicated by the reference numeral 29. As is seen the approach 29 consists in a ladder 30 which is properly braced and supporting a platform 31 at its upper end.
In the operation of the present device a juvenile may assume the seating position in each of the frames C. This may be done by ascending the approachers 29. If it is desired to swing then each occupant of the swing frames may sway their body so that a swinging motion of the frame will be produced. If theswinging of each frame is in synchronism then no teetering action of the beam Bawill be had. If however the frames C are swung in opposite directions by the occupants then the beam B will become unbalanced and a teetering action will occur with the swinging. The cables 18 will of course limit the amount which the beam B may swing. Also as is obvious if desired the occupants may maneuver to turn or rotate the beam B and thus increase their amusement.
I claim 1. An amusement device of the character described, comprising a support, a beam pivoted at a point intermediate its ends upon saidsupport and adapted for vertical rocking movement, a cross member at each end of the beam, a frame carried by each cross member adapted for transverse swinging movement with relation to the beam, and a hoop supported within each frame and adapted for permitting the weight of the person seated within a frame to be shifted to cause rocking movement of the beam.
2. In combination, a vertical post, a beam comprising a pair of elongated members secured together at acent ends and connected to said vertical post for swinging movement at the longitudinal center, a cross member carried at each end of the beam, a U-shaped frame member having its ends pivotally connected to the ends of each of said cross members and adapted for transverse swinging movement with relation to carried at the outer end of each of said extensions, and a swing frame carried by said cross member and adapted for transverse swinging movement with relation to the associated extension.
4. An amusement device of the character described comprising a support, a beam pivoted at a point central to its length upon said support and adapted for vertical rocking movement a cross member carried at each end of the beam, means whereby each cross member may be adjustably moved inwardly or outwardly with respect to the support'for said beam, aframe pivotally supported by each cross member and adapted for inward and outward swinging movement with respect to the beam support, each frame including a pair of side members having their upper ends pivotally connected to the associated cross support, and a seat supported between the side membersof each frame.
