IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED STOCLS AND FOOT-RESTS.
Speciiication forming part of Letlers Patent No. ll ,1221, dated Muy 2G, 1674; application filed February 13, 1874 To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, JEFFERSON OBEN- BAUGH, of Goshen, in the county of Elkhart and State of Indiana, have invented a certain new and useful Combined Stool and Foot- Rest; and I do herebydeclare the following to he a full, clear, and exactdescription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, in whichy Figure l is a perspective view of my invention. Fig. 2 is an under-side plan View of the same.
This invention has relation to a combined stool and foot-rest; and consists in the construction and novel arrangement of parts, as hereinafter specifically described and claimed.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, A designates the seat of the stool, consisting of a suitably-shaped board, upholstered to suit the taste, and attached, by means of screws passing through flanges B, to the supports C. The latter are of cast metal of ornamental design, each support being in theA form of two legs, connected about or nearly midway between their npper au d lower ends by means of a cast brace, D. E designates the foot-rest, consisting ofthe open plate or casting pivoted to the braces D, the pivots d thereof being threaded and provided on their outer ends with nuts d', which may, if desired, be tightened to retain the foot-rest at any needed inclination. The foot plate or rest may be inclined to either side to suit the convenience of the user, lugs c e being cast on the inner surfaces of the braces D to sustain'the rest at the proper inclination.
Having described my invention, I claim- The combination of the pivoted foot-rest E with braces D, providedwith the stops e e, and attached to the legs O, supportin g the rest A, substantially as shown and described.
