Description

Novo 4 19.2 5. 1,514,089
E. KOHLER 1 GAME Filed May 23, 1923 fie. 1.
INVENTOR mew-5r xomme Patented Nov. 4, 1924- ERNEST KOHLER, OF ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA.
GAME.
Application filed May 23,
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST KoHLnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Alameda, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improved game apparatus, and more particularly of the class in which a ring is connected to a stick by a cord, the object being to catch the ring upon the end of the stick, or upon a peg which is inserted in said stick.
The object of my invention is to provide a game apparatus which is entertaining in use and inexpensive to manufacture.
In the annexed drawing in which my in vention is illustrated:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved game apparatus.
Figure 2 is a second perspective view of my apparatus in another position.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the handle 1 is preferably square in cross section of any desired length, and tapered toward the outer end. A plurality of vari-colored sections 2 are painted upon the stick and are numbered consecutively from the handle end outwardly, the purpose of which will be described later.
The ring 3 is connected to the handle 1 by a cord 4 which is secured to an eye 5 in the tapered end of said handle. The ring 3 is held adjacent the handle and when it is released the player attempts to catch it upon said handle. The section 2 that the ring stops upon indicates the value of the catch. If desired, the ring may be held at an angle to the handle and released and caught as heretofore described, or the ring may be laid upon one side of the stick and Serial No. 640,858.
then thrown upwardly and caught as previously described.
3 caught upon it.
The position of the peg in the section indicates the value of the catch. The ring 1s swung as previously described and then caught upon the peg.
lVhen not in use, the peg 7 is kept in a hole 8 in the rear end of the handle 1.
A groove is formed in one face of the handle 1, anda plurality ofnotches 10 are cut in one edge of said groove. The various notches have various values indicated opposite them and when a marble 11 is rolled in the groove 9 the notch that it stops in will indicate the value of the roll.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A game apparatus comprising a handle, a ring, a cord secured to said ring and to the end of said handle, a peg, said handle having a suitable number of holes in the side thereof for the selective reception of said peg, and said handle having a hole for the reception of said peg running longitudinally from the rear end thereof.
2. A. game apparatus comprising a handle,
substantially square in cross section, a ring. a cord secured to said ring and to the end of said handle, a plurality of sections painted upon said handle, said sections being numbered. outwardly from the butt of said handle, said handle havingholes there in in each of said sections, and peg adapted to be selectively placed in any one of said holes.
ture.
ERNEST KoHLan.
