SAFETY RAZOR HOLDER Original Filed Aug. 11, 1922 1 I INVENTOR o5me5Z'Er/y46'n,
ATTORNEY Patented Oct. 28, 1924.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES FRANCIS FERRY, SR., FALLS CITY, NEBRASKA.
SAFETY-RAZOR HOLDER.
T 0 aN u'lz am it may concern.
Be it known that I, JAMES F. FERRY, Sr., a citizen of the United States, residing at Falls City, in the county of Richardson and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and Improved Safety-Razor Holder, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in safety razors of the well known Gillette type and it especially has for its object to provide a blade holder which can be used with the plain blades now commonly employed and which is of such construction and will so cooperate with the blade as to rovide a free and clear space between the b ade and the guard so that debris can be readily washed out without taking the razor apart.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved holder, the guard and cap members being separate.
Figure 2 is an elevation and part cross section showing the position of the parts before screwing up on the cap shank.
Figure 3 is aview of the holder and blad ready for use.
Figure 4 is a detailed perspective view of one of the ordinary blades commonly employed with razors of this type.
In the drawing, in which like numerals of reference designate like parks in all of the Figures, 1 represents the handle which. carries the usual guard 2, the latter being provided with holes 3 for the cap lugs 9 of the usual cap 8. The guard 2 and handle 1 are bored at 6 to receive the threaded shank 7 of the cap, the parts bein clamped together by the tubular nut 4, w ich screws onto the threaded shank 7 and has a milled finger piece 5 forming an abutment at the end of the handle, whereby the cap and guard can be drawn together to clamp the razor blade 12 between them.
\Vith my invention the guard 2 is provided with teats 11 on the outer face or that face which lies adjacent to the razor blade. The cap 8 may be provided with recesses 10 if desired, although the recesses may be omitted if desired.
My improved holder is adapted for use 1 clamping means an application filed January my application filed August. 11, 1922, Serial From the foregloing description, taken in connection with t e accompanying drawing, the construction and advantages of my invention will be clear to those skilled in the art.
What I claim is:
1. In a razor, a holder including a curved ca and a curved guard and means for positioning and clamping the same together in cooperative relation, said guard having teats on the face opposed to the cap and positioned intermediatel of the positioning and the edges of the guard whereby when a blade. is clamped between the parts the blade will beheld in continuous contact throughout avith the cap and be spaced from the guard by the teats to leave free cleaning passages between the blade and the guard in all directions for the purposes specified.
, 2. In arazor, arap and a guard, means for positioning and clamping the same together in cooperative relation, teats onthe guard opposing the face of the cap and positioned at points between the ositioning and elampin means and the e ges of the guard, and t e cap being provided with recesses opposing the teats, and a plain flat razor blade clamped between the ca and guard withthat surface which lies ad acent with the cap in contact with the cap throughout to prevent passage of debris between the cap and blade, teats on the guard cooperating with the edges of the. cap to hold that surface of the blade opposite the guard out of contact with the guard to leave a space between the said surface and the guard for free passa e of debris in all directions.
