To all 'whom t may concern.'
Be it known that GUSTAF SANDBERG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city and county of San Francisco, California, have invented a. new and useful Improvement in Convertible Utensils, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to aconvenient utensil capable of being alternately conver ed into a camping and folding table and a sectional carrying case.v
It is one of the objects of the present invention to provide a. portable, inexpensive and compact device formed of elements adjustable to serve as a carrying case in which may be transported suitable concealed objects and which device is also capable of transformation into a. small table.
it is further object of `the invention to provide a convertibleutensil having box-like sections hingedly connected to meet, as along a medial'plane, and which sections are provided with foldablc legs to be compactly arranged within the device when it is to be utilized as a carrying and packing case and which legs may be readily unfolded and locked in positions perpendicular to the plane sides of the case and which sides are adapted to serve as a table top.
Another object of the invention is to provide a complete portable set of elements constituting an unitary camp service outfit and consisting of a. table-forming case, benches lia-ving elements designed to nest compactly within the case sections and also including a. box for the carrying of lunches or other impedimenta. and which will tit within the closed case.
The invention. possesses other objects and features of advantage, some of which with the foregoing, will be made manifest in the followirg description of the preferred form ot' thel ivention which is illustrated in the drawings accompanying and forming part oi' the specification. It is to be understood 'that it is not intended to limit the invention to the embodiment shown by the said draw-- :lugs and description, as variations may be. adopted within'the scope of the invention as set forth in the claims.

as unfolded and benches serviceable thereat and showing the lunch-box included in the outfit.
Fig. 3, is a. perspective of the unfolded case-forming sections and is a. view looking into the interior of the upturned sections, one of which is partly broken away to show the folded legs.
Fig. e, is a transverse sectional view across the unfolded case sections showing' means for locking the same in open position.
Fig. 5, is a. sectional view of a fragment set up as a table, and
of one of the case sections showing a. step in the unfolding of one of the legs and showing its slidable carrier.
Fig. 6, is a. view similar to Fig. 5, showing the carrier and its leg in locked position.
F ig. 7, is a. sectional view vtransversely across one of the legs and through the frame of a case section on line 7.-7 of Fig. 6, and illustrating in detail a form of lock.
Fig. 8, is an end View of the extended 'table top.
Fig. 9, is a perspective of the 'leg screw socket.
Figure l() is a sectional view of a fragment of one of the case sections showing the leg l1 extended and in locked position.
The present invention consists of a portable camp table and dining outfit and includes a sectional boi: or case of such dimensions that it may be carried in hand and within which may be closely packed elements of the outt such as benches or seats and a lunch or other box; legs being permanently connected to the respective sections and which are capable of being arranged in a position to support the sections of the casing to form a table.
An embodiment of thel invention is shown in which a casing consists of two substantially similar sections 2 and 2, of desired dimensions and materiah'these sections having contiguous frame portions 3, hingedly connected as at 4, so that the sections can be closed to meet at the edges 5, of the frames of the sections and be suitably locked or latched as by fastening device 6. The case may have one of its sections provided with a carrying handle 7.
Preferably the bottom or side walls 8 and 9, of the sections are of such area as to form, when they are brought into a common plane when the sections are unfolded about their vthe slot.
