Description

Qcjt. 7, 1924.
T. s; WAIT CURTAIN HOLDER Filed Dec. 31
' INVENTOR. Thaddeus 6. Wait ATTORNEYS Patented 9st. '7, 1924.,
THADDEUS S. WAIT, OF STURGIS, MICHIGAN.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THADDEUS S. IVAIT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sturgis, county of St. Joseph, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in curtain holders. The main object of this invention is to provide an improved curtain holder which is easily mounted upon a window casing and easily adjusted to hold the curtain in the desired draped position.
A further ob'ect is to provide an improved curtain holder which is very economical to produce.
Further objects and objects pertaining to details and economies of construction and operation will definitely appear from the.
detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of the invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of the invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which:
Fig. I is an elevation of a window provided with a curtain with my improved curtain holder in operative position.
Fig. II is a slde view of my improved curtain holder, a portion of the chain being broken away.
Fig. III is a plan view.
Fig. IV is a detail view partially in section on a line corresponding to line 4l l of Fig. III. I
Fig. V is a side view with the chain partially broken away showing a modified form of my improvements.
Fig. VI is a detail section on a line 66 I of Fig. V.
Fig. VII is a detail side elevation of another modification.
In the drawings the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines and similar numerals of reference refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawing, 1 represents a window casing and 2 the curtain. These parts are shown conventionally. My im- CURTAIN HOLDER. I l U Application filed December 31, 1921. Serial No. 526,208;
proved curtain holder comprises a laterally facing \l-shaped hook 3 having a shank 4: extending from one arm thereof and pro-' vided with a threaded tip 5. This threaded tip is adapted to be screwed into the casing in the desired relation to the curtain. The chain 6 is connected tov the shank 4 by the swivel 7 so that the shank may be threaded into the casing without winding up the chain and, further, so that the chain may swing freely to support the curtain in the desired draped position. The other end of the chain is engaged in the V-shaped' hook merely by dropping the links into the hook sothat the chain may be adjusted as desired. The shank has a grove'll to receive the swivel.
In the modification shown in Figs. V and VI the chain 8 is of the type used for switch pulls, a swivel 9 being provided t o-connect the chain to the shank. In the modification shown in Fig. VII the chain. 10 has round links which may be engaged over the bill of the hook. My improved curtain holder is very economical to produce and is quickly mounted on the casing and supports the curtain .in any desired draped position.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim. as new and desire to'secure by Letters Patent, is:
j 1. A curtain holder comprising an open laterally facing V-shaped hook provided with a shank having a threaded tip extending from one arm thereof, a chain, and a swivel connecting one end of said chain to said shank, the other end of said chain being free to be adjustably engaged in said hook.
2. A curtain holder comprising an open V-shaped hook provided with a threaded shank, and achain, one end of which is con nected to said shank by a swivel, the other end of said .chain being free to be adjustably engaged insaid hook.
3. A curtain holder comprising an open hook provided with a threaded shank, and a chain, one end of which is connected to said shank by a swivel, the other, end of said chain being free to be adjustably engaged in said hook.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal. i
