IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED LAMP-COLLARS AND SHADE-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 150,950, dated May 19, 1874; application filed March 21, 1874. a
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. HADFIELD, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in, Lamp-Collar and Shade- Holder, of which the following is a specification:
The figure is a side View of a lamp and shade-holder, partly in section, to show the construction.
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
A represents a lamp, to which a collar, B, is applied in the usual way. 0 is the shadeholder, afiixed by supports E to the base ring O, which is made of such a size as to-fit upon the collar B. Upon the outer surface of the collar B is formed a screw-thread, into which fits the screw-thread out upon the inner surface of the base ring 0 of the shade=holder C. By this means the shade-holder will be firmly and securely connected with the lamp in such a way as to be entirely independent of the burner, and allow the burner and chimney to be convenient] y attached and detached and replaced with new ones without disturbing the shadeholder.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The independent ring O, attached by screwthreads to collar B, and by supports E to the shade-holder O, as and for the purpose specified.
