This invention relatesto an improvement in a table case and more particularly to the combination of a foldable table, and foldable stools, these parts being so formed that when folded the case forms a compact, easily carried receptacle having the appearance of the usual suitcase.

The chief object of this invention is topro` vide a case comprising a table foldable along the center line with foldable and extensible legs; which table when opened constitutes a firm support and when folded for-ms a closed receptacle; a plurality of foldable stools that are carried within the receptacle formed by the table and a box that may be used for holding lunch,.or table utensils, or for other purposes if desired also within the receptacle.

A further object 'is to provide a foldable table having foldable and extensible legs with a simple but firm rigid means for folding the legs extended. Y

Other objects will appear fro-m an examination of the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawving which forms a part thereof and in Fig. 1 is a plan view of the inner side of the opened table, the legs being folded in place and the stools and box assembled.

Referring to the drawing the numeral 10 is used to designatea case made in accordance with this invention and comprisinga table 11, four stools 12 and a box 13.l

The table 11 consistsof twoidentical sec- V` tions 14, 14, joined by hinges 15 ,and each made of a rectangularframe 16 to which is secured a top 17. Pivoted to the frames 16 at the four corners of the tablev are legs 18 having an upper metal section 19 of channelled cross section and a lower section .2O which is preferably of woodyas shownin the drawing and foldable into the channel of Rigidly secured at the corners of the table are brackets 21havin0f` parallel flanges 22 one of which is attached to the frame 15. Through each pair4 of flanges y22 is passed a bolt 23 which also kpasses through inclined slots 24 in the upper section 19 of the leg as best illustrated in Figs. 6 and 7. By reason of the' inclination of the slots 24 the legs when at right angles to the table, see Fig. 6, may be forced up into the bracket 21 until the face of the secdown the section 19 leaves the innerface of the bracket 22 so that when the bolt 2,3 engages the upper ends `of, the slo-ts 24 the legcan be swung at right angles into the position shown in Fig.V j f The lower section 2O of, the leg 181s tion 19 contacts therewith. In this position it is 'of-course impossible 'for the legs to inove relative to the table but by pulling it when the pins are at the bottom `ofthe slots it swings freely. 1When, however, the lower section after being brought into alignment with the upper section is forced upwardly into the channel 26, 'it is carried against the central portion 28 and consequently held against any swinging movement.

The stools 12 consist of two outer legs 30. hinged. at 3l te @we inner legS 32.: The

lare attached to the legs 30 and 32 respecti-vely to hold the material 35 in position. The plate 36 also acts to limit the folding of the stool by its contactl with the upper ends of the inner legs 34.

ln assembling the parts the lower sections 20 of the legs 13 are folded into the chan* 4nels of the sections 19 and the legs are folded down into the spaces bounded by the frames 15. The stools 12 are then collapsed and assembled in pairs, the legs on one side of each stool being inserted between the plates 36 and 37 of the other stool Vso that each pair may be placed in one of the table sections 141-, Each pair of stools 12 when so assembled provides a rectangular space 39 and in the space of one pair is placed the box 13 which is preferably twice as high as the frame 15 (see Figs. 3 andy 1)- so that it will project into the space 39 of the other pair when the table with its contents is folded. For convenience in carrying, a handle et() is provided the sections 1a held together by latches, not shown, or any other means.

Vihile one embodiment only has been shown and described, l am not to be limited thereby since it is obvious that other enibodiments can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of this invention as set forth in the following claims.

Having thus set forth my invention, what l claim as new and for which I desire the protection of Letters Patent is:

1. A table case comprising a folding table a plurality of stools and a box said table consisting of two sections hinged together, each section comprising a rigid recdesired tangular frame to which a' portion of the table top is secured, brackets at the outer corners of said frames, legs pivoted to said brackets each leg being in two sections the upper section being of channelled cross section and the lower section being` pivoted to the lower end of said upper section whereby the lower section may be swung on said pivot into the channel of said upper section, the length of the upper section of said legs being somewhat less than the width of said table sections whereby the legs may be folded across the ends of saidtable sections, to provide rectangular spaces fer foldable stools and' a box said stools being so lformed vand assembled that the legs thereof form a rectangular space in which said box may be received.

2. A table case comprising a folding table a plurality of stools and a box said table consisting of two sections hinged together, each section comprising a rigid rectangular frame to which a portion of the table top is secured, brackets at the outer corners of said frames, legs pivoted to said brackets each leg being in two sections the upper section being. of channeled cross section and the lower section being pivoted to the lower endv of said upper section whereby the lower section may be swung on said pivot into the channel of said upper section, the length of the upper section of said legs being somewhat less than the width of said table sections whereby the legs may be folded across the ends of said table sections, to provide rectangular spaces for foldable stools and a box said stools being so formed and assembled that the legs thereof form a rectangular space in which said box may be received, the table legs and collapsed stools being of less height than said rectangular frame and said box being double the height of said frame whereby when the table case is collapsed the box will ll the rectangular spaces provided by the legs of said stools.
