My invention relates to improvements in plural lamp sockets,-and has'for one of its objects the production of a simple, compact,
-' tion of the body and serviceable lamp socket in which the lamp-receptacle-carrying part may be made in a single piece of molded material having suitable recesses and apertures therein to permit the easy and ready assemblage within the insulating body portion of the various lamp receptacles and conductor members. provision being made for the extending of the conducting members to terminals on the exterior of the body.
For the purpose of disclosing' my invention I have illustrated certain embodiments,

Formed .in the lower end of the body portion 1 is a receptacle recess 3 and asimilar recess 4 is formed in the extension 2. Ihe body, comprising the cylindrical portion 1 and its extension 2, is preferably-made of'molded insulating material and is of such shape and construction that it can be molded in one single piece, thereby avoiding the necessity of assembling. a plurality of molded portions to form a body portion, and reducing, therefore, the cost and the use of screws or other assemblage connecting devices. -Within the body portion and communicating both with the receptacle recess 4 and the receptacle re-' cess 3 I provide a. lurality of longitudinally extending channe s 5, 6 and7. These chan nels are preferably elongated and at their sides merge into the recess 4 and at their hottoms merge into the recess 3. Each of the two side channels 5.and 7 is of just sufficient width and length to. receive a U-shaped conducting member having a base 8 and two angularly disposed legs 9. A threaded shell 10 isdisposedwithin the recess 4. This shell is of the usual construction, having inturned flanges at its bottom, and these inturned flanges are connected, respectively, by screws 11 with the base 8 of each of the U-shaped shell conductor members. A similar threaded shell 12 is arranged withintherecess 3 and its bottom portion is connected by means of screws 13 with the bottom legs 9 of the threaded shell conductors. These U-shaped shell conductors are secured in position by means of screws 14, which pass through the body portion from the top and screw into the'top leg 9 thereof. I These screws 14 also secure in position a threaded shell contact 15. The third U-shaped member is lon er than the other two members and is provi ed .with a base 16, a tongue 17 and a second tongue 18'. This member is located within the center recess 6 and the base 16 forms the center contact for .the threaded shell 10, while the tongue'17 forms the center contact for the shell 12. This center contact member is secured in position by means of an elongated screw 19 which passes through the top of the body member and also through an insulating plug 20, securing the plug 20 in position and forming in connection with a washer 21 on the end of the plug a plug center contact. . In the structure illustrated in Figs. 7 to 12, I have shown a twin plug' receptacle of the same type as that illustrated in Fi s.
1 to 6, with'the addition of a switch or. controlling the circuit of one of the receptacles. In this structure, instead of making the center contact 17 and 16,all in ,one piece,
the center contact 17 is made in a separate piece and secured'to the base by means-of ascrew 22 fastening into a nut 23 molded in the body when the body is formed. Mounted in a, recess 26 in the body is a switch member comprising a .bridging contact 27 mounted on a pin 28 extending through the body. An operating handle 29 formed of insulating material is also mounted on this pin and projects beyond the side of the body. This handle is connected with the blade by means of a bar 30 having at one end a pin 31 resting in notches 32- in 'ingthrough an opening in the front end of the U-shaped contact member 27. shaped contact member and a shoulder at the rear of the bar 30 is a coiled spring 33,-
this construction being such that when the handle 29 is raised past the dead center on the pin 28 the contact 27 will be snapped up,
and vice versa. When the contact 27 1s the center contact 17. correspondingly, when the bridging contact 27 is snapped up,
the circuit for the center contact 17 1s. opened and the circuit,therefore, through this receptacle is opened.
