Be it known that I, EUGENE RENAUD, a .A subject of the King of Great 'Britaimresiding at Montreal, .Province vof Quebec, Canada, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Razor-.Blade Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following Lis a full, clear, and exact description'of the invention, such as will enable others skilled intheart to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The Ypresent invention pertains to a novel device for holding safety razor `blades for sharpening. Although. the. device hereinafter described is particularly adapted for this purpose, it willbe obvious that it may be used for other purposes where it is desired to obtain a firm grasp on a blade, for example as in cutting.
The device comprises a pair of strips between which the blade is to be grasped. Each strip is formed with a pair of perforations from each of which is projected a tooth. The teeth of one strip are adapted .to pass through the perforations of the remaining strip, and teeth are further constructed for mutual interlocking. By means of this arrangement a razor blade, which is also perforated to receive the teeth, is firmly held between the strips.
These perforations and teeth are formed at one end of the strips, hereinafter referred to as the forward end. At the remaining end of each strip is formed a device for normally holding the teeth in interlocking engagement.
The invention is vfully disclosed in the following description and in the accompanying drawingsv in which Figure l is a perspective view of a device constructed in accordance with the invention;

The device comprisestw'o strips l1 and-.2 which will y'be ldescribed separately. The strip lis formed of-ste'elvor othersuitable metal and has the gripping end thereof-.narrowed as at 3 for convenience. In this end are cut a pair of perforations t, and from the rear edge of each of these perforations projects a tooth 5 which points towards the forward end of the strip. i
These teeth and perforations may be formed by stamping in an obvious manner. The handle or rear end of the strip is formed with a tongue 6 the end of which is enlarged as at 7.
The complementary strip 2 is also reduced at its forward end as at 8. This end is also formed with a pair of perforations 9 incarna( which are adapted to aline with the perforations i when the strips are placed in juntaposition, as shown in Figures 1 and 9. Teeth 10 project from the forwardedges of the perforations in the direction of the handle or rear end'of the strip. The latter end is formed with an inclined portion 11 in which is cut an aperture 12.
1When the razor blade is to be clamped into the device, it is placed over one of the y strips so that the perforations of the blade receive the teeth. The remaining strip is superposed so that the teeth thereof pass through the perforations of the blade and into the perforations of the first mentioned strip, as illustrated in Figure 9. Since the teeth on the two strips point in opposite directions, the blade is firmly grasped between the strips. The tongue 6 is slipped into the aperture l2. Because of the inclined portion l1 the strip having the tongue slips forwardly as a result of which the teeth on the tongue strip are held against the teeth of the remaining strip. Vhen the strips are held in the hand by the handle, the teeth are maintained in interlocking engagement by the pressure of the hand. This follows from the fact that the rise slopes downwardly towards the torward ends of the strips, so that the tongue strip having the forwardly pointing teeth is prevented from slipping back.
In Figures 10 and 1l is illustrated a further modification designed for use when only one edge of the blade is yto be sharpened. The strips are formed with perforations, teeth, tongue and an aperture in the same manner as the embodiment already described. At the forward ends of the strips, one ot the edges of each has a bead 13 formed partially along its length. When the two strips are interloclzed, the beads engage one another Jforming a housing for the blade edge which is not to be sharpened, the remaining edge being exposed as illustrated.
While a specific embodiment of the invention has been illustrated and described, it is to be understood that various alterations in the details of construction may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as indicated by the appendedl claims.
Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is l. A razor blade holder comprising a pair of strips, each of said strips having a pair of perforations therein, teeth projecting from each of said perforations, the teeth on one of the strips pointing oppositely to the teeth of the remaining strip, one of said strips having a tongue at one end, an inclinedportion formed at the corresponding end of the other strip, said portion having an aperture cut therethrough adapted to re ceive said tongue.

A razor blade holder comprising a pair o1c strips, each having a pair of perforations cut therethrough, teeth projecting from said perforations, the teeth of one of said strips being adapted for interlocking engagement with the Vteeth of the remaining strip, one of said strips having a tongue at one end, an inclined portion formed on the corresponding end of the other strip, said portion having an aperture cut there through adapted to receive said tongue,
