The object of my inventionis to provide, for the use of farmers and dairymen, an improved churn-cover and guard, which prevents the disagreeable spattering or running over of the cream in churning, and the soiling ofthe floor and dresses incidental to it.
The invention will rst be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
A in the drawing represents the upper part of a churn; B, the churn-cover; and C the guard fitted into it. TheA cover B has a horizontal tlange,'a,that extends over and'rests upon the edgeof the churn-body A. In turning back, the cover is loosened, and can be easily taken oft' from the churn. The cupshaped dasher guard C is placed with its slightly-conical end l in a corresponding recess of the upper sideof cover B. Apertures f and f of cover B and guard C are placed centrally through them, and taper slightly upward to tit closely to the flasher-handle, and prevent as much as possible the passing up ot' the cream. The conical end Z of guardC tits, on turning, firmly and tightly into the cover B, and the bowl of guard C intercepts the particles of cream spattered around by the motion of the dasher, and avoids thereby the soiling ot' the floor, carpet, and dress.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A churn-cover, B, locked on its seat by vmeans of a set-screw'0r spring and provided with a darin g cup, C, to receive a dasher-rod, as and for the purpose described.
