M. M. MARCUSE DISPENSING CABINET Filed April 26 1922 Patented Aug. 26, 1924.
UNITED STATES PAT ENT OFFICE MGSES MJIVIARCUSE, OF'NEW'YORK, N. Y.
DISPENSING CABINET.
Application filed Apri1'26,
To all 015022127 may concern Be it known that I, M /L BIARCTTQE, a. citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Dispensing Cabinet, of which the followingis a specification.
My invention relates to dispensing cabinets.andparticularlyto a cabinet of this type adapted to contain paper in an interfolded package form, such as toilet paper or the like. The paper is preferably placed in a verticalposition and rests on its edge and is-withdrawn:from the cabinet through one vertical wall thereof. It is the particular object of this invention to provide means for maintaining the package against the delivery opening so as to facilitate the delivery of. the sheets.
lVith'thiS objectin mind, my invention contemplates the provision of a cabinet of this general-type and a paper feeding machine embodying a weighted curtain, chain or other flexible means draped over the package and tending to urge the same toward the delivery opening thereof.
\Vit-h these objects in view, this invention consists in the novel combination and construction of parts hereinafter more fully de scribed and illustrated in the accompanying specification and drawing.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a perspective View of a cabinet constructed in accordance with my invention,
Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section through the cabinet,
Fig. 3 is a similar View with the supply of paper somewhat reduced,
Fig. at is a perspective view with certain parts omitted and broken away,
Fig. 5 is a similar view with a modified form of construction, and
Fig. 6 is a similar view with another modified form of construction.
By referring particularly to Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive, the first form of my invention will be described. I provide a cabinet 10 of any suitable size and material adapted to contain a package 11 of inter-folded or interleaved sheets. The cabinet is preferably formed with a back 12 which is remov ably secured to the cabinet thereby enabling the supply of paper sheets 11 to be renewed when the occasion demands' The sheets are 1922. Scrial No. 556,622.
withdrawn througha delivery opening 13 formed in one of the vertical walls of the cabinet and preferably the front wall thereof as illustrated. As is obvious. the package of sheets rests on its edge, thereby disposing thesheets in a vertical position.
For urging the sheets toward the deliver opening 13 there is provided a curtain-H1. draped over the package of sheets and provided with a weight 15 held in its lower edge. In the drawings this curtain is shown as attached as at 16 to the front wall of the cabinet. However, the suspension point of this flexible weighted curtain may be located on the topwall of the cabinet or on the end walls thereof, it being essential only that this suspension point be near the front or delivery wall.
A. comparison of Figs. 2 and 3 will readily indicate the manner in which this flexible weighted curtain functions. As the supply of interleaved sheets is reduced, the weighted curtain slides downwardly, maintaining the sheets at all times against the delivery opening of the cabinet.
In Fig. 5, a modified form of construction is illustrated. In this form there is provided a weight bar 17 secured by flexible members 18 to the front wall of the ca.- net, the points of suspension being indicated by the reference character 19. In this form also the principle involved remains the same. the weight bar 17 and flexible members 18 tending to continually urge the package of interfolded sheets toward the delivery opening 13.
In Fig. 6, still another form of construction is illustrated. In this figure there is illustrated a chain 20 draped over the package 11 of interfolded sheets, the ends of the chain being suspended within the cabinet near the front wall thereof at the points indicated by the reference character 21. The same result is accomplished herein, that is, the package of interfolded sheets is fed toward the delivery opening of the cabinet.
In the two modifications just described, as in the first form of the invention, the suspension points of the flexible members need not be positioned on the front wall of the cabinet 10 as illustrated, but may with equal facility, be positioned on the top of the cabinet; or on the end Walls thereof, atpoints adjacent the delivery opening.
Obviously therefore, the package of interfolded sheets is, by any of the constructions herein described, constantly fed toward the delivery opening until the last sheet of paper has been withdrawn. It is then a simple matter to raise the flexible feeding means and insert a; new package of interfolded sheets in the cabinet, whereupon the feed ing means is released and permitted to drape itself over the package.
The several modifications of this invention illustrated herein are indicative of the forms of this invention which have been found practical and efficient in actual use, but I do not Wish to be unnecessarily limited as regards details of construction, but reserve the right to make such changes and other modifications as may come within the purview of the accompanying claims.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim is: I v
1. In a sheet dispensing cabinet provided with a delivery opening, a flexible weighted sheet feeding means connected to said cabinet adjacent the top and in proximity to the delivery opening and deflected away from said delivery opening by the package of sheets over which it is draped.
2. In a sheet delivery cabinet adapted to contain a package of sheets and provided with a delivery opening, a flexible Weighted sheet feeding means connected to and suspended within said cabinet and adjacent the delivery opening thereof and draped over and deflected by the package of sheets for urging them toward said delivery opening.
'3. Ina dispensing cabinet of the class described provided with a delivery opening and adapted to receive a vertically disposed package of interfolded paper sheets, a Weight, flexible means secured to said Weight, the end of said flexible means being secured to the inner wall of said cabinet adjacent the delivery opening thereof, said flexible means being draped over said package of interfolded paper sheets for constantly urging the same toward said delivery opening.
4. In a dispensing cabinet adapted to receive a package of paper sheets and provided with a delivery opening, a welght connected toand suspended from a point adjacent the delivery opening and draped over the package whereby it is deflected from the perpendicular the approximate extent of the thickness of the package. 7
5. In a dispensing cabinet provided with a delivery opening and adapted to receive a vertically disposed package of interfolded paper sheets, a flexible Weighted'member secured to the inner wall of said cabinet adjacent the delivery opening thereof, said weighted member being draped over said package of interfolded sheets for the purpose of maintaining them in an upright position and for constantly urging them toward the delivery opening. 1
