The dimensions and relative positions of the shaping parts'are so proportioned toythe size-of the blanlg and the power with which the blocks 12 and 13 are advanced issue-h thatthe blank engaged by all four blocks, cooperating in the manner sufficiently indicated brings the blank from the initial shape I erably not blank-forming faces but lnerely guiding faces, and that the curvature initially imposed upon the blank at its ends is the curvature which itcarries to the completion of the reel. By thus leavingclearance of the ends of the blank, when formed,
beyond the outer faces of blocks 10 and 11 (Figs. III) allowance is made for minor irregularities both in size of the blank and in the positioning of the blank in the machine.
While themachinevwhich I here show and describeforms blanks such as that shown in Fig. "IV to the particular shape shown in F ig V, othersuch blanks are formed to the particular shape shown in Fig. VI. Two
shaped blanks of each sort are then assembled and the reel is'articulated and formed into a unitary structure by increasing the bends in the members 0 at the pointsvindii cated at 0, Fig. IV, and forming these bends into the loops or eyes which in Fig. V bear the same reference letter 0.
Ido not dwell here upon the particular features of thereel which give it utility these are sufficiently considered in the specification of myip'atent first above mentioned.
" I I claim as my invention:
' 1. In a machi'ne for formingreels out of wire, a machine unit consisting of four blocks, two standing opposite one another in stationary positions and adapted to bring to position an endless hoop of wire applied to them, and two being: oppositely reciprocatory between the stationaryblocks in parallel planes angled with respect to the plane of a loop resting onthe stationary blocks, thereby shaping an applied loop to three-eyed.formation.
