IMPROVEMENT IN KETTLE-SCRAPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 150,482, dated May 5, 1874 application led March 14, 1874.
To all whom t may concern i Be it known that we, SAMUEL A. POTTER,
' EMALINE POTTER, and JOHN POTTER, of Fowsection of the same on the line c c, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of our invention is to furnish a convenient and handy device for scraping kettles, boilers, and similar utensils; and the invention consists in a scraper-plate with a round or otherwiseshaped rear handle at one side, and a pocketguard for the ngers at the other side.
In the drawing, A represents the scraperplate with a curved and sharpened edge, connected by stiffening side flanges a with the round, oval, or otherwise-shaped handle part B at the rear end, which is preferably formed by bending the extension of the scraper-plate into such shape for forming the support for the thumb or palm of the hand, according as lighter or heavier Work is to be performed. At the opposite side of scraper-plate A is attached the pocketguard C for the insertion of the fingers, which, in connection With the thumb or palm, adapts the scraper to be held rlnly during its work.
The scraper may be made of any suitable material, and in various sizes for different applications, and provided with a hinged ring, b, for hanging it to the wall out of the Way after use.
IIa-ving thus described -our invention, We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 'The kettle-scraper herein described, consisting of the scraper-plate A, handle B, and pocket or case O, all constructed and arranged substantially as herein shown, and for the purpose speciied.
