To prevent unauthorized insertion of spurious or other tickets at the bottom of the stack without obstructing the ejection of the tickets, a'suitable non-return device is em ployed. This preferably consists of a pawl 41 'pivotally mounted at the lower end of each ticket compartment. tends across the front of the compartment immediately above the platform 9 and is provided at its ends with trunnions or pivots 42 mounted in bearings 43 at the sides of the ticket compartment. The pawl is preferably pressed downwards against the platform 9 by a spring 44 and it is effectively guarded against fraudulent manipulation by reason. of the forwardly extended hood or guard portion 32 over the ticket delivery aperture 31.
The front of each ticket compartment above the platform 9 may be closed by a re movable indicating plate 46 having a veiticall elongated central slot or opening 47 and graduations 48 along the edge of said opening. The spacing of these graduations preferably 1 corresponds to the thickness of the tickets so that bymeans of the pointer hereinafter described all-exact indication of the number of tickets in each compartment is always provided.
Resting upon thestack of tickets 49 in eachticket compartment is a weight 51 hav ing an indicator or pointer 52 which projects through the elongated opening 47 in the removable plate '46 and thus provides a permanent and instant indication of the number oftickets in the stack, consequently serving asa safeguard against fraud.
A ticket ejecting and indicating mechanism as above described is provided for each of the ticket compartments, any'desired number of which may be 'p'rovided in the one receptacle or cabinet.
In-use, the hinged top'of the cabinet is opened and a; stack of tickets is placed in ach, compartment 7. The weight 51 is placed onthe top of the tickets in each compartment with the indicator 52 projecting. through the vertically elongated opening 47 in the removable plate 46. The hinged top is then closed and locked. "To obtain a ticket the operator presses the push lever 24 inwardly with the bent forefinger as indicated in Figure '1. This causes the ejector 14 to be forced outwardly through the medium of the lever and link mechanism beneath the platform 9. The lowermost ticket of the stack is thus ejected and positioned as in Figure 2 between the thumb and forefinger,
by which it is thus conveniently seized and withdrawn. By the foregoing arrangement the delivery of the tickets is rendered extremely simple and expeditious and it is impracticable to insert into or fraudulently manipulate tickets at the bottom of the ticket compartment owing to the presence of the non-return device l1 and the extended hood or guard portion 32.
Immediatel on removal of the pressure from the pus lever the ejector returns to its normal or inward position and the next ticket in the stack drops in front of the upstanding shoulder or projection 17, to be ejected by the next operation of the push lever.
The weight 51 and the pointer 52 thereon fall as each ticket is removed and thus indicates by the graduations on the indicating plate 46 whether any and what number of tickets have been removed from or inserted in each compartment. If desired, however, the slotted and graduated indicating plate and the pointer may be dispensed with and a removable plate, provided with small observation holes arranged one above the other to disclose the height of the ticket stack may be employed in lieu thereof.
Having now described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is z- 1. A ticket delivery apparatus consisting in the combination with a ticket receptacle having one or more compartments each adapted to contain a stack of tickets, of a ticket ejector disposed at the bottom of each compartment, a spring controlled push lever adapted to actuate said ejector, said push lever being pivoted at its lower end on a, transverse axis and having its upper travelling end disposed beneath and adjacent the point where the tickets are ejected from the receptacle, and means operatively connecting said push lever with the ejector whereby the latter is moved outwardly by inward pressure on the push lever, for the purpose set forth.
2. A ticket delivery apparatus consisting in the combination with a ticket receptacle having one or more compartments each adapted to contain a stack of tickets, of a ticket ejector disposed at the bottom of each compartment, a spring controlled push lever adapted to actuate said ejector, said push lever being provided with opposite side cheeks and mounted on a transverse pivot pin which passes through said cheeks, said controlling spring being disposed between the side cheeks and encircling said pivot pin, and means operatively connecting the push lever with the ejector whereby the latter is moved outwardly by inward pressure on the push lever, for the purpose set forth.
3. A ticket delivery apparatus consisting in the combination with a ticket receptacle having one or more compartments each adapted to contain a stack of tickets, of a ticket ejector disposed at the bottom of each compartment, a spring controlled pivoted push lever adapted to actuate said ejector, said push lever being mounted on a transversely disposed pivot pin which is encircled by said controlling spring, and aremovable frontplate attached to the front ofthe ticket receptacle at its lower end, said frontplate having open-mouthed recesses at its lower edge to accommodate the transverse pivot pin of the push lever, and also having an opening through which said push lever moves substantially as described.
4. A ticket delivery apparatus, comprising, in combination, a receptacle provided with a compartment to contain a stack of tickets having a horizontal platform at its bottom; an ejector mounted for bodily sliding movement on said platform and on which the ticket stack rests; a depending element secured to said platform; a lever pivoted intermediate its ends on said element; a link connection between one end, of the lever and the ejector; an in wardly-movable push member; and a link connection between said member and the other end of said lever, whereby the ejector will be slid bodily forward and outward when the push member is pressed inward.
5. In a ticket delivery apparatus, the combination of a receptacle provided with a compartment to contain a stack of tickets; an ejector for the tickets; a front plate attached to the lower portion of the receptacle and provided with a delivery aperture for the tickets and with a second aperture directly below the first one; a member normally projecting outward through the second aperture but adapted to be pushed inward therethrough by pressure exerted against it by the forefinger of one hand of the operator to effect the outward movement of the ejector; and a forwardlyextending guard disposed above the ticket aperture and overhanging the projecting portion of the operating member, said guard having its forward end cut away to expose the projecting end of the ticket acted on by the. ejector, whereby said projecting ticket end may be grasped between the thumb and forefinger of the same hand and removed.
