used on motor trucks, street cars, garagesand the like, and has for its principal object the provision of a semi-concealed lock that will effectively prevent the opening of the door by-unauthorized persons.
A further object of the invention is the arrangement of locking means for folding doors that will not interfere with the sealing of the door by resilient/weather stripping and the like.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, wherein reference is made to the accompanying drawings illustrating preferred embodiments of my invention, and wherein similar reference numerals designate similar parts throughout the several views.

Referring now to the drawings, the numeral 5 illustrates a door. of the folding and swinging type, pivoted, as at 6, to the door jamb 7 and formed of -two sections hinged, as at 8, to each other, the section unconnected with the jamb 7 being adapted to abut against flexible weather stripping 9 carried by the door jamb 10, whereby the door is effectively sealed against ingress of cold air, rain, etc., when in closed position. To guide the door from the closed position shown in Fig. 2 to the extreme opened position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, I preferably arrange a slot 11 above or below the door, being herein shown as in the floor 16 adjacent the door when in closed position, the slot preferably curving, substantially as Serial No. 663,987.
shown in Fig. 1, to permit the swinging of the opened door out of the way of incoming persons. A guide and locking rod 12 secured adjacent the free extremity of the door extends into or through the slot 11. This guide rod may extend the full length of the door to provide additional strength and afford a rounding surface on the edge of the door to impinge against the flexible weather 1 stripping 9 on the door jamb. The lower end of therod 12 is utilized for locking the door inclosed position and co-operates with a lock bolt 13 extending from the lock casing 14: secured to the floor 12. In Fig. 2 the lock casing 14 is illustrated as secured to the lower face of the floor, though it is apparent that the lock casing could be countersunk in the floor or otherwise protected against molestation. The operating mechanism for throwing and retracting the lock bolt 13 is not illustrated, as many of the lock mechanisms now in general use are applicable for this purpose and either a key operated mechanlsm or a combination mechanism might be employed.
In Fig. 5 is illustrated an embodiment of the invention wherein the lower extremity of the guide rod 12 is apertured and adapted to align when the door is in closed position with an apertured abutment 15 secured to the floor 16, the lock bolt 13 being adapted to extend through the apertures of both, the guide rod 12 and abutment 15. If desired a curved lock bolt can be utilized with this construction.
In operation, the door 5 can be freely moved when the lock bolt 13 is in retracted position, the guide rod 12 moving in the slot 11 to facilitate the opening and closing movements of the door. When it is desired to lock the door it is swung to closed position, the guide rod 12 impinging against and partially embedding in the flexible weather stripping 9 along the jamb 10, whereupon the lock bolt 13 may be thrown by the lock operating mechanism into the position shown in Figs. 2-4, abutting the guide rod 12 and preventing its movement within the slot 11. The door is thus effectively locked in or below the floor 12, while the sealing of the door against the weather stripping 9 is in no way interferred with.
When it is again desired to open the door the lock bolt 13 is retracted by suitably turning the lock operating mechanism and the guide rod 12 freed for movement within the slot 11. i
While it Will be apparent that theillustrated embodiments of my invention herein disclosed are Well calculated to adequately fulfill the objects and advantages-primarily stated, it is to be understood that the invention is susceptible to -variation, modification and change Within the spirit and, scope l1) ofthe subjoined claims.
Having described my invention,I claim 1. Locking mechanism (for doors comprising a slotted member secured adjacent the door, a guide and locking rod extending ver- 1 tically from the doorinto the slot, and a lock bolt arranged to be thrown into and out of position to secure said. rod against movement in said slotted member.
2. Locking mechanism for doors comprising a slotted-niember securedadjacent the door, a guideand locking rod extending vertically from the, door into the slot, andlocking mechanism including a lock bolt adapted' to extend across the slot and abut the rod to hold the rodagainst movement in said slotted member.
3. Locking mechanism for doors compris:
in" a floor member having a slot therein below the door, a guide and locking rod secured to the door ad]acent its free extrelmty and extending into the slot, a lock bolt secured to the floor member in position to cross the slot, and actuating mechanisi'n for throwing and retracting the lock bolt.

Locking mechanism for doors comprising a door frame having a slotted lower member, flexible Weather stripping secured: along one side of the door frame, a door pivoted to the opposite side of the door frame and carrying a rod extending into the slot of said lower member, the rod being adapted to impinge against the weather stripping when the door is in closed positio'ma lock bolt arranged to engage said rod to prevent its movement Within the slot, andlock actuating mechanism for throwing and retracting said lock bolt.
