FLAP VALVE.
Application Iled March 31, 1924. Serial No. 703,219.
To` all tell/mn` t may concern.' j valvev plate A is provided near its rim with Be it known that l, Zonivnii- VENCL, a hub-lilre projection B, in the bore of which citizen of the Czechoslovakian Republic7 operatesa spindle C rotatably mounted in residing at Prague-Smi'ch'ov, Vacla-vka Q5, the valve housing T at right angles to the Czechoslovakia, have invented new and use axis of the opening at the valve seating 6c fulflfinprovenients Relating to Flap Valves, sothat the valve plateV A is freely susof which the following is a specification. pended on this spindle C between the two The? present invention relates tov flap small pipes or bushes S (Fig. 4). The valves and means for operating the same spindle 4C is' secured against axial thrust and has among its objects to facilitate: the bymeans offthe screw M and its free end, e5 opening-of the' saine. j projecting from the valve body is rigidly Another object of the invention is'to proconnected by a pin R to a hand lever E videjmeans whereby the valve itself acts as" between which and a stuffing box is a spring a lever in the initial opening movement. Z mounted on the hand lever. A further object is to provide simple and The bore provided in the projection B is 7o effective means for actuating a flap valve. of non-circular cross section and substanv With these and other objects in view the tially corresponds in outline with the outl invention comprisesnovel features of conline of a controlling cam. The roller D may be replaced by a spring seated in the spindle C (Fig. 5) or by an eccentric D2 (Fig. 6).
While specific constructional forms of the invention have been herein described in detail it Will be understood that the invention might be carried out by other means all coming Within the scope of the appended claims. v
What I claim is l. A flap valve comprising a housing a valve plate `a seating for said valve plate in said housing, a projection adjacent the rim of said valve plate formed With a noncircular bore, an operating spindle rotatably mounted in said housing at right angles to the axis of the valve seating,
i on said spindle co-operating with the said bore on rotation ofl the spindle to raise the valve plate by lever action on the point of the said seating furthest removed from said spindle.
2. A flap valve comprising a housing a valve platea seating for said valve' plate in said housing, a projection adjacent the rim of said valve plate formed with a non` circular bore, an operating spindle rotatably vmounted in said housing at right anglesl to the aXis of the valve seating, eccentricl means on said spindle co-operating with the said bore on rotation of the spindle to raise the valve plate by lever action on the point of the said seating furthest removed from said spindle the valve meanwhile not partaking of the turning movement of the spindle, and means for rotating the said spindle.
8. A flap valve comprising a housing, a
vthe said bore on valve plate and a seating for said valve plate in said housing', a projection adjacent the rim of said valve plate formed with a noncircular bore, an operating spindle rotatably mounted in said housing' at right angles to the axis of the valve seating, means for rotating said spindle, eccentric means on said spindle cio-operating with rotation ot the spindle to raise the valve plate initially without causing said valve plate to partake of the rotary movement of said spindle, and then to lock said valve plate to said spindle for rotation therewith. i
l. A flap valve comprising a housing7 a valve plate and a seating for said valve plate in said housing, a projection adjacent the rim of said valve plate formed with a noncircular bore, yan operating spindle rotatably mounted in said housing at right angles tothe aXis of the valve seating, means for rotating said spindle, eccentric means on said the spindle to raise the valve plate initially Without valve plate to partake of the rotary movement of said spindle, and then to lock said valve plate to said spindle 'for rotation therewith into a position at right angles to the surface of the seating, and abutment means 't'or preventing said plate from rotating beyond said position.
In testimony whereof I alix my signature in presence of tivo Witnesses.
