HENRY MASBRITCH, PLATTEVILLE. VVISGONSIN.
ATTACHMENT FOR PUMPS.
Application filed December 31, 1923. Serial No. 683,778.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY MASBRUCH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Platteville, in the county of Grant and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Attachment for Pumps, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a device which may be readily attached to and adjusted on any hand-operated pump and which will make it easier to operate the pump.
I attain the objects of my invention by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which': 7
Figure 1 is a side elevationof my invention applied to a pump;
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of same; and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of my attachment removed from the pump.
Like characters of reference designate like parts in each of the several views.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, I provide a bifurcated bracket 2 mounted on the head of the pump 1 and having a depending vertical bracket end 4 to which the a lJ-bolt or clamping yoke 3, which encircles the pump, maybe attached. I rovide a set screw 5 for facilitating the ad justment of the device to pumps of different sizes to which it is capable of being attached. I provide a rear clamping bar 6 engaging under the pump handle and secured to the ends of the bifurcated bracket 2 by bolts 7. as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. Affixed to each of the arms of the bifurcated bracket 2 are hollow posts 8 which are reinforced by suitable braces 9. Adjustably mounted in hollow posts 8 are screws 11 which are adjustably supported by the adiustinc' nuts 12. Attached to the upper ends of screws 11 is a cross bar which is provided with opposite hooks 13. I also provide a lower cross bar 15 affixed to the pump rod 17 by a U-bolt 16, as shown in 2 and 3. Cross bar 15 is operat-ively connected with the hooks '13 of the cross bar 10 by suitable springs 14. The point of attachment of lower cross bar 15 to pump rod 17 is at a point below the engagement of pump handle head 18 on the pump rod. When the pump handle is operated the lower cross bar 15 travels downward with the pump rod 17 and the springs 14 are stretched, the tension from which tends to rod, and springs operatively connecting the 7 two cross bars, for the purposes described.
2. In an attachment for pumps, the combination of a bracket, means for rigidly and adj ustably securing the bracket to the pump head, standards on the bracket, a cross bar supported from the upper ends of said standards, said cross bar terminating in hooks, a second cross bar affixed to the pump rod at a position substantially below the first cross bar, and springs operatively connecting the second cross bar with the hooks of the first cross bar, substantially as and for the purposes described.
3. In an attachment for pumps, the combination of a bracket, said bracket having a vertically depending end portion, a clamping yoke engaging around the pump and secured to said depending end portion of the bracket, a set screw mounted in said end portion of the bracket and adjustably securing the bracket to the ump means 2:, P 7
for attaching the rear portion of the bracket to the pump, hollow standards on the bracket, screws adjustably mounted in the upper ends of said standards, nuts resting on the ends or" the standards and adapted to adjust the height of the screws, a cross bar carried by the screws, a lower cross bar affixed to the pump rod in spaced relation to the upper cross bar, and springs operatively connecting the two cross bars.
4. In an attachment for pumps, the combination of a bracket, said bracket having a vertically depending end portion, a clamping yoke engaging around the pump and secured to said depending end portion of the bracket, a set screw mounted in said end portion of the bracket and adjustably securing the bracket to the pump, means for attaching the rear portion of the bracket to the pump, standards on the bracket, a cross bar supported from the upper ends of the standards, a second cross bar aflixed to the pum rod. and s rin s operativelv connectv- '27 s ing the two cross scribed.
5. In a bars for the purposes den. attachment for pumps the 00m- 5 bination of a bracket" means for rigidly securing the b tially hollow standards on SCIGWS a racket t0 the pump head, substanthe bracket, djustably mounted in the upper ends of said standards nuts resting on the ends of the standards and adapted to adjust the height of the screws, 3 cross bar carried by the screws a lower cross bar affixed tothe pump rod in spaced relation to the upper cross bar, and springs operatively connecting the two cross bars.
