One end of the slide l5 is Provided with openings 28 adapted, when the slide isin unlocking position to register and coincide with the openings 9 formed in the iront wall of the' loch', so as to permit the passage of the studs 5 through the openings 28 and il. lwhen the parts are in 'these positions. The thickness ot the slide is, however, so proportioned at that part thereof in which the openings 38 are formed, that if the slide is retracted, while the studs are in the position described, that portion of the slide between the openings 28 and the forward end of the slide will be retracted beneath the orerhanging heads of the studs 5, as best shown in' Figure 4. Then this has been accomplished, it will be apparent that the withdrawal of the studs is impossible since the studs and 1the sliding plete of the lock are interlitted or interloeked in such manner as to preclude separation of the parts and consequent opening ot' the door until the locking plate of the lock has been retracted, either through the empio 'ment of the proper hey from the outsire of the door, or by manipulation of the knob 18 yfrom the movement is imparted to the inside of the door.

A door lock embodying a casing adapted to be mounted on one side of a door so as to project beyond the edge thereof and provided adjacent one end with an opening positioned beyond the edge of the door. a mova ein uber within the casing and also provided with an opening, and means for moving said member to bring the opening of the member into and out of registration with the'openim,r ot the casing, in combt nation with a hook shaped keeper intended to be mounted on one side of the door jamb in the path of the opening ofthe casing end adapted, when the door is swung shut, with the opening of the movable member in registration with the opening otthe casing, to pass through said opening and into the casing, whereupon the movement of said member will shift the same into a position wherein the openings are out of registration to cause the hook shaped keeper to hoolr over the movable member and preclude separetion of the casing and keeper und keep the door closed until the opening' of the movable member is returned to registration with the opening of the casing, and means for locking the movable member against movement except that imparted thereto by the operating means for said member.

A door lock embodying a casing adapted to be mounted on one side of a door to project beyond the edge thereof and provided on both its front and back with juxteposed openings positioned beyond the edge of the door, a sliding member operable within the casing and provided at one of its ends with an opening, means for sliding the recante longitudinally of the casing shifts the open 1 ing of said sliding member into .e position out of alinement with thelopeningsin the casing for the purpose of locking the sliding member to the keeper.
