To all whom tmay concern:
Be. it. known that I, JAMES` W; Pinon, a citizen of the United ,'States, and a resident of'Tulsa, in the county ofTulsa and State ofi Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful'lmprovements in Hair Clippers, of-which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to hair clippers and has for its object the provision of a power driven device for cutting hair and provided with an oscillating arm extending the en tire length of the device for operating the vusual movable cutter whereby a more effective cutting stroke of the cutter is had.
A- further object of the invention is the provision of a power driven device having `an oscillating arm for actuating the movable cutter and movable at oneend through an opening in a grease packed casing, with means ,on the arm coacting with the wall,
of the casing adjacent the opening to prevent' loss of grease from said casing.
Another object of the invention is ithe Y provision of a power driven device for cutting hair which is enclosed within a casing and equipped with an operatingV shaft mounted in a bearing block, with said block and shaft being removable as a unit from the casing.

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a casing having an extension 2 which is adapted to support the cutter. Rigidly mounted within the casing l is a block 3, the
. height of whichfalls slightly short of the the block 3 is cut away 'to form a pocket to ed a drive shaft 5. The drive shaft is provided at its inner end with a worm 6 while its outer end is adapted to be connected with a flexible shaft which is connected with a motor for driving the shaft 5. The block 4 is held to the casing 1 by means of a s :ew 7, the shaft 5 and block 4 heilig removable as a unit from Ithe casing.
A gear 8 which meshes with the worm (3 is mounted upon a stub shaft 9 which is secured to the casing 1 by means of a nut 10. A pin 11, which is mounted eccentrically on the gear 8 is adapted to receive a peration of the groove 17 and in which the arm 14 is adapted to oscillate. Adjacent the outer end, the oscillating arm 14 is provided with a laterally projecting plate 19 having an elongated slot 20 which is adapted to receive the cross head 12. rPhe plate 19 forms a shoulder 21v at itsouter end which is adapted to engage the end wall 22 adjacent the opening 13 and cooperate with a lug 23 located upon Vthe opposite edge of the arm 14 to prevent the loss of grease from the casing 1 when the angular portion 24 of the arm 14, which extends through the opening 13, is oscillated through said open-` ing, the lug 23 being movable in engagement wit-h a portion of the end wall 22.
The angular portion 24 of the arm 14 is provided with an enlargement 25 having a passage 26 therein which is designed to receive the inner end ofthe thumb screw 27 which is adapted to lock one end of the casing and a stationary blade 28 to said casing. The extreme outer end of the oscillating arm is provided with an upstanding lug 29 which is adapted to be received within a slot located on the inner end of the oscillating blade 30.
The operation of my device is as follows:
l/Vhen the shaft is rotated by means of the flexible shaft 31 the Worm 6 is rotated which, being in mesh With the gear 8 rotates said gear. The cross head 12 being mounted eccentrically on the gear 8 is moved in a circle causing oscillation of the arm 14`since the cross head 12 slides Within the elongated opening 2O in the lateral extension 19 ot the arm 14.-. The angular portion 24 ofthe arm 111 oscillates in the opening 13 at one end 22 of the casing with the lug 23 and the shoulder 21 engaging the wall 222 adjacent the openingl 13 at all times and preventing loss of grease fro-mthe casing. rthe casing at all times is packed with grease so that the operating parts will be thoroughly lubricated.V Oscillation ot the arm 14 causes oscillation of the movable blade 30.

1. A hair clipper comprising a casing provided With an opening at one end, a bearing block removably mounted Within the.
casing, a shaft provided with a worm rotatably mounted inV the bearing block and removableV with saidblock asa unit from the casing, an oscillating arm having one'end pivotallyniounted at one end ot the casing and projecting through the opening at the other end of said casing, a plate integrally formed withV and projecting laterally ronr the oscillating arm, said plate being provided With an elongated slot, a gear in mesh With the Worm, a pin eccentrically mounted on the gear, a cross head loosely mounted on the pin and movable in the slot whereby the arm is oscillated, means on the arm coacting with the Wall of the casing adjacent the opening inthe casing for preventing loss ot lubricant from said casing, and a cutter operated by the oscillating arm.
2. A hair clipper comprising a casing provided With an opening at one end, a
'shaft mounted for rotation in the casing and provided With a Worm, an oscillating arm having one end pivotally mounted at one -end of the casing and projecting through the opening at the other end of the casing, a
plate integrally torincd with and projecting laterally from the oscillating arm, saidplate being provided with an elongatedvslot, a
gear in mesh with the Worm, a pin eccentrcally mounted on-the gear, a cross 'head loosely mounted on 'the pin and movable in the slot whereby the arm is oscillated, and a cutter operated by the oscillating arm.
