Be it known that I, G'EoneniD. HARnIsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bracelets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in bracelets and pertains more especially to bracelets of the slide type, i. e., bracelets adjustable by sliding of the two members 01' ends thereof.
The primary object of the invention is to provide means for securing the free or loose end of the bracelet to the Vbody of the latter in any position to which the bracelet may be adjusted.
A further object of theinvention is to provide means for enabling the free end' of bracelet to be easily and quickly moved into and out of secured position and which also efiectively holds the end in secured position.
Another object of the invention is to .provide securing means which is of simple and economi'cal construction and Whichcan be made of a single piece of material and slidably connected to the bracelet without the use of solder or other extraneous fastening.
Further and other objects Will be later set forth and manifested in the course of the following description.
In the drawings:
Figure 1, is a plan view ofV a bracelet equipped with the present invention;
Figure 2, is a section on line 2-2 of Figure 1;
Figure 3, is a section on line 8-3 of Figure 1;
Figure 4:, is a bottom plan view of the slideV and Figure 5, is a plan view of the blank from which the slide isformed.
The drawings illnstrate a bracelet of the wrist watch type, but in this regard it is to be understood that the invention is susceptible of use with bracelets of any type, such as one-piece, wherein a loose or free end `is afforded.
In proceeding` in a/ceordance with the present invention a blank' as shown in Figure 5 is employed, the latter being formed of a metal stamping` having a body l with an enlarged head 2 on one end and a corresponding` head 3 on its opposite end. The head 2 is formed with a dove-tail projection while 4the head 3 has a corres'ponding 'recess 5 formed to frictionally receive and engage the projection 4. y Central of its length the body l is formed with a rounded head 6, similar to, and forming the male member of a head and socket connection of the glove fastener type. As depicted in Figure 3 of the drawings, the body l is bent about the bracelet B so `as to slide therealong, the dove-tail head and recess being interengaged and having a tight frictional fit so as to maintain their connected or united relation.
The free end C of thebracelet is provided With an eye or socket 7, here depicted as in the form of an eyelet headed at its ends .and with a finishing tip D.
It will thus be apparent that in order to secure the free end C of the bracelet to the head 6 it is merely necessary to move the slide 1 to bring its head 6 in register with the eye or socket 7 whereupon the head is snapped into the eye, for which purpose the ,head 6 is slotted at' f A friction slide or other device E secures the two parts of the bracelet in adjusted position.
Obviously the head 6 can be separately formed and secured to the slide.
Having thus described my invention, what i I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a bracelet end connector, a slide having a dove-tail head on one end and a head on its other end formed with a dove-tail recess to tightly receive the head therein, a rounded head struck-out from the center of the slide, and an eye on the bracelet end formed to receive the rounded head.
2. In a bi acelet end connector, a slide having-a dove-tail head on one end and a head on its other end formed with a dove-tail recess to tightly receive the head therein, a rounded head on the slide, and an eye on the bracelet end formed to receive the rounded head. 'i
3. In a braceletend connector, a slide having a dove-tail head on one end and a head on its other end formed With a dove-tail reccss to tightly receive the head therein, and a head and socket connection between the slide and the end of the bracelet.
4. In a bracelet end connector, a slide compcsed of a metal strip having substantially parallel sides, an interlocking connectlon between the ends of the strip disposed on one of the sides of the strip and being substantially fiush with said side, and means to connect the slide to the bracelet end.
5. In a bi'acelet end connector, a slide 5 fornied of a band encircling the bracelet and having a head and socket connection between the band ends which connection is disposed in a substantially common plane, and a removable connection between the slide and 10 bracelet end.
6. In a bracelet end connector, a slide Jormed of a band encircling the braceiet and having its ends ormed :tor nterengagernent and dsposed in snbstantially a common plane, and a removable connection between 15 the slide and the bracelet end.
In testimony whereof I have'signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing wtnesses.
GEORGE D. HARRISON. VVitnesses E. J. BANKS, NELLIE A. CAIN.
